Really one of the best of this year (2014), pure 4x4 balance, crafted with pure love only the way Cathy knows how. — 11 years ago
The final wine poured was the '06 Davis Family Syrah 'Guyzer Block'. Lacking sufficient decanter time, the toasty oak flavors were not as integrated as I remember from previous bottles. However, subtle blackberry, pepper and floral aromas did finally surface. This concentrated wine had nice zesty acidity and a long creamy finish. — 13 years ago

On the nose; ruby, glowing, ripe, slightly candied fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, blue fruits and black raspberries. Soft minerals if you can call them that, caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, whiff of black licorice and perfumed, red florals & roses. The beauty and quality of the fruits turn the eyes up. Bright and a sense dull at the same time. The body is full and beautiful. Tannins nicely round and soft for a 13. Its extremely silky & elegant. Fruits of; blackberries, blue fruits, plum, dark cherries, creamy raspberries, black raspberries, black plum and strawberries paint the background. Fruits are a touch gummy. Vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, anise, mocha, soft leather, wood shavings, fine crushed rock powder & fine chalky minerals. Acidity near perfect. The structure, balance & length are well executed harmony. The finish is beautiful, well polished and lasts two minutes. Excellent pairing of Guinness Braised Beef Short Ribs, Horseradish Mashed Potatoes & Haricots Verts from Davis Estate Chef Mark Caldwell and featured in the middle left photo. Other photos of; the vines above the Estate, lobby and the vines/view from the Estate terrace. — 8 years ago

Try the 12?Juicy, almost chewy on the front end, with velvet tannins, great acidity and a spice bomb on the end that took my breath away. — 9 years ago

'04. Great. Might have thought it was Burgundy. Mature, really strong. Medium weight and wild aromatics. Herbaceous, funky, tar, raspberry. Lean, firm. — 11 years ago

Fantastic Bordeaux Blend. Loved it — 8 years ago
Nice and fruity. Not overly sweet, just enough to cut the acidity. 2014 Vintage — 8 years ago

What more can you ask for-well made, as this is a v2010, crispy ( don't serve too chilled), creamy, oaky ( not too bad, French barrels, so nice and rounded mouth feel). Nice wine! — 12 years ago
