Decanted for an hour or two. '06. Slightly transparent maroon with slight bricking on the periphery. Orange tinge when pouring into the decanter. Bouquet of freshly baked pie and spice. Strawberry, rhubarb, and nutmeg and cinnamon. A lot of heat initially that's abates quickly. Medium bodied and still decently tannic. Long spicy finish. 92 — 11 years ago
Beautiful maroon color with transparency around the periphery. The nose is most interesting; it has distinct Barossa Valley Shiraz characteristics, but it is also reminiscent of a big Napa cab without the chewiness. Big ripe red fruit, spice, vanilla and cedar. Not much alcohol on the nose. Great mouth feel but more medium bodied. The palate showing some chocolate, vanilla, and tobacco. Not nearly ad fruity as the nose but well balanced. Long even finish. Great value. Really stoked on this one. At $12 I should've gotten a case. 92 — 11 years ago
Inky, luscious fruit, defined tannins that were present but not overwhelming, mature like Meg Ryan and precocious up on the pallet. A smooth mouth ride, like a late 70s Cadillac driving down your tongue — 10 years ago
Dark maroon. Opaque. Caramel, anise, mocha, creamy vanilla, ripe dark fruit. Full bodied with big tannins. This will evolve into great wine. Give it a decade. Long long finish. 93 — 11 years ago
Transparent maroon with slight bricking. Ripe dark fruit and spice on the nose. Nutmeg, leather, cigar box, with hints of mocha. Excellent tannin to acid balance. Fuller side of medium bodied, fig, cherry. Blind I'd have guessed further south but for an 08 drinking pretty well now. Get it. 92 — 11 years ago
Really nicely balanced fruit and acidity — 10 years ago
Deep maroon. Opaque. Still a little heat but beneath is balanced. Spicy notes of espresso, coffee bean, nutmeg, ripe dark fruit. Fig. Big and slightly tannic. Medium finish. Sediment already starting to form. I'd give it a 2-3 yrs but very good now. 88 — 11 years ago
Decanted 2 hrs. Deep maroon. Ripe dark fruit dominated by black licorice, anise and alcohol. Full bodied and acidic with velvety tannins. A very chewy wine with major cellaring potential. I'll lay the other two bottles down for 5-10 yrs. once it integrates I'm sure it'll be 93+ — 11 years ago
Dark maroon with just a hint of brick on the periphery. Fig with an overpowering nose of black cherry, fig, menthol, tobacco, and licorice. Soft velvety tannins and full bodied. Red currant and coffee. Balanced yet not overly complex, with a strong finish. Remarkable for table wine. A north coast of note. 91. — 11 years ago
