Tonight’s nightcap 🥃
During our stay at the hospital for the birth of our son some dear friends of ours brought my wife & I a care package. In it were all manner of goodies and treats, as well as a bottle of champagne and this scotch. They know us all too well 🤫🤷🏻♂️
.
Caramel, creme brûlée, charred orange peels, and Christmas spice cake on the nose. Mild notes of moss on the palate with a pronounced but welcome warmth on the way down. Smooth and perfectly suitable for ending the day with. — 5 years ago

A five hour decant. Dark cherry and blueberries with a rub of minerals and tobacco. Just awesome — 7 years ago
Dry and Smokie. Has subtle black licorice like flavor (plumb, blackberries, mocha and vanilla). Did I mention this wine is dry... In a good way. — 8 years ago

So fruit forward and so easy drinking …. And lovely. Not for snobs or wine intellectuals. For hedonists. — 2 years ago
Great wine but could afford to have more tannins — 5 years ago
Delicious! Had it as part of a wine flight at Salish Lodge in WA. Celebrating our 2yr anniversary of the day we met. — 5 years ago

LOVED. And I have not been drinking much Chardonnay anymore — 7 years ago
2012 vintage. Wow...now this is a serious wine. Deep in dark fruit and terrior flavors and a fair share of tannins. This was pure heaven with a barbequed rib eye steak. Another of those wines that I keep on the shelf because they are bound to be wonderful when opened but I want to keep them as long as possible for slight aging. But I never buy enough soon enough before the sell out. Mark Ryan makes seriously wonderful wines and this is surely one of them. — 8 years ago

Highly recommended. Well balanced with a lingering smooth finish. — 11 years ago
A very good red blend. — 2 years ago
Brilliant silver-straw. Lime zest, honeysuckle, succulent herbs and chalky minerals on the incisive nose. Dry, tightly focused and lithe on the palate, offering intense citrus and orchard fruit flavors that reveal a hint of waxiness and a refreshingly bitter quinine note. Shows a delicate touch and finishes clean, nervy and quite long, with resonating mineral character and a hint of lemon thyme. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)

This is just ridiculous. Act 7. Tastes of deep figs/plums up front as if grandma just baked a pie in your mouth. Finished smooth with a tiny bit of spice and more jams that make you want to cry. More of this please. — 4 years ago
Smooth .... good for at least another 10 years.... — 6 years ago
Needs some air, but this is outstanding. — 6 years ago
First dance with British bubbles, not Champagne but pretty damn close. Very good structure and acid. Over priced when you compare it to NV Champs. But The region is now on my radar and I am looking forward to things to come. — 6 years ago

This is the last of an original dozen - proved to be an excellent buy for only $32 per bottle. See previous note 49 weeks ago. Stalky whole bunch notes together with nice black berry, cassis and mint. Typical Margaret River herbaceous notes but this also has an SA Cassis bent. Not full bodied but definitely full flavoured with M+ intensity you get from quality Marg River Cabernet. So enjoyable to drink this with a Barbecued grass fed Rib Fillet - medium rare. — 9 months ago
