Merlot me, another tasty effort from winemaker Marisa Taylor Huffaker of Rutherford Hill fame. This is a large production wine, built like a classic right-bank BDX. A blend of mostly Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab-Franc and the odd, but certainly satisfying addition of Syrah. Acid to red, dark fruit is nicely balanced, with enough structure to last a couple more yrs. From Bevela Wines at Au Bon Climat / Qupe Open House at Bien Nacido. Although a 2011 vintage, this is a recent release after extended barrel age. Made by Marisa Matela Beverly (Asst at ABC) and Kris Beverly. Floral nose jumps out of the glass. Bright acidity, earthy plum and cherry on the palate.
