2005 - great earthy nose right from the get go. balanced acidity even from the start, which mellows to give way to a pleasant palette of red fruit (but not jammy) burgundy-ness. after opening up over a period of about 2 hours, wine seems to stay tightening up after 3 hours again. Great value in village level Beaujolais with a very typical Gamay nose of leather, smoke, and earth which also come through on the palate with a dose of added spice from a little stay in oak foudres. Old vines, delicious, restrained and all you can ask for at this price. — 11 years ago
