Yamhill Cuvée is named for the county where the Domaine Serene Estates are located. Aged for 14 mos in French oak (43% new), this blend has grapes from Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity Hills, & Yamhill-Carlton AVA's. Ruby, rich fruit aromas of red berries and floral spices, known as “little sister” of the Evenstad Reserve. The palate shows cherry and strawberry with cacso, oak & cola. The wine is well balanced, long finish, smooth tannins, residual fruit with mineral tones. Nice! — 7 years ago
2009 and only vintage of Oregon Pinot for Domaine Serene, that is made mostly from grapes from Evenstad vineyard, is probably the best Pinot for the money. Winderful bottle of wine. — 10 years ago
Ruby and medium opacity
Refined floral and cherry on nose without much else
Higher acidity, muted red fruits with earthiness
Subtle but lengthy finish
Benefited significantly from time in bottle after opening, fruits opened up and finish became more noticeable — 6 years ago
The Mark Bradford Vineyard has high elevation plantings to Pinot Noir and was the first vineyard planted by Grace and Ken Evenstad, aptly named after their son. Showing a deep core, the wine begins with intense aromas that instantly excite. Red cherry cola, cigar ash, peat moss, blood orange zest and pomegranate seed aromas all come to mind. There is a beautiful, seamless quality to this wine, as it effortlessly glides across the mid-palate. Wild strawberry, red cherry candy, black tea, cranberry, pomegranate and peat moss flavors all combine marvelously leading up to the finish. While this possesses notable weight, there is also a striking elegance. Surprisingly open and accessible, this is another stunning Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene and talanted winemaker, Michael Fay. Monogram is a project initially started by Domaine Serene owner Ken Evenstad and the 2014 version is a simply breath-taking release. The Monogram is a limited production wine that is a barrel selection of what Ken and winemaker Michael Fay consider to be the choicest of lots. The wine is massive and brooding on the palate, showing a wonderful combination of dark and red fruits alongside wonderful earthy nuance —black truffle and peat moss — which all come into play. The wine finishes exceedingly long with dark fruits and minerals lingering on the stunning finish. This is a simply marvelous Pinot Noir which has the potential to evolve for decades.
