Attending the Côtes du Coeur in Dallas. Was asked to be a brand ambassador for Montagu Wines, so I get to pour this weekend! Last night was the grand tasting...out of 18 or so wineries, two really stood out.
This was so freaking good. I know @Shawn R is a big fan of their stuff and this was my first time trying anything from Barnett (need to try their cab franc). This and the Macauley To Kalon were neck and neck for WOTN. Velvety in texture. Pure toasted oak, vanilla, black and blueberry pie. Superb balance. — 9 years ago
Unctuous. Smoky bacon fat, ripe black fruits on a big, silky palate. Great effort here. — 10 years ago
Dry, but indescribable. Great w/ pesto. — 13 years ago
New wine- this is the petite sirah. Based on this and other versions in his portfolio (macauley petite and marauder 50/50 petite-syrah blend), I think the varietal really suits his winemaking style. I prefer this over his zins and probably his syrahs. This is also the first 2017 red wine ive had from bottle. Young but i’m guessing 2-3 hrs in the decanter would be great. — 7 years ago
I'm a Zinfandel fan for sure. This is a great expression of the style. If you can find a bottle, check it out! — 9 years ago
Good alternative to Dolce. — 10 years ago
Might be the best wine I have had.... — 11 years ago
Had a nose of a blackberry cobbler! — 7 years ago
05 deep dark fruit, with Chocolate, with a little earthiness. On the palate this wine was powerful yet balance with the tannins seamlessly integrated. Long lush finish! — 9 years ago
Clean and fresh. Notes of lemon and vanilla cake. — 11 years ago
