Firstly the nose is driven by strong Sherry notes. Gets better & more harmonious with air. The Sherry turns into curry plant, fennel blended with hints of apricot & yellow stone fruit. Like a laser beam on the palate, very salty, vibrating and grasping. Long finish. — 9 years ago

This shows some barnyard, horsey notes up front, likely Brett, but for more Brett-tolerant folks like me, it’s the lovely fresh redfruits underneath and crisp and lively acidity, together with the lingering finish, that make this a lovely CdP!! Damn. This is delicious and in an amazing spot 😍

It has effusive aromas & flavors black cherry preserves, dried fig, prune, rose, graphite, coffee grounds, blackberry bramble, licorice, leather, tobacco, peat, clove, star anise, cardamom, cured meat, black peppercorn, wet earth, mushroom, potting soil, balsamic glaze..

On the palate it’s dry with high - barely so - alcohol (14% ABV). The acidity is lovely and energetic. Tannins are silky and well-integrated.

100% Syrah from Hermitage hill, biodynamic and lower intervention in the winery. Textured and deep.
