14 drinking near peak of mature brightness and silky tannins - really balanced front to back...I really love Melville! I think it’s the most underrated winery in the US likely! Really expressive and nice pure fruit! — 7 years ago
Lovely, light but packs a punch. — 8 years ago
Spicy, complex and surprisingly approachable for a young Hermitage. #syrah #chapoutier — 10 years ago
Very typical, lots of black pepper and sausage meat. A bit heavy on the palate and will surely get better with a bit of age. — 10 years ago
The 07 is drinking exceptionally well. It can still go the distance with age but it shows lots of black fruit with soft noticeable tannin now. Went well with skirt steak — 11 years ago
Tannic as heck — 12 years ago
Chapoutier never disappoints. Nice and light. Raspberry on the nose and palate. Falls off on the finish. Made for hot summer days. — 13 years ago
Nice mineraly effervescence upon opening—crisp, clean, tart, grapefruity. Good stuff! — 6 years ago
A beautiful red from Rhone valley! One of my favourite French reds. — 6 years ago
The Monte Rosso was outstanding in every way- expressive nose of dark red fruits and layers that touched all parts of the palate. The flavors complimented a wonderful dinner. 8 years and still getting better. 100 year old vines that show how good Zinfandel can be when grown and tended to reveal their sense of place. Outstanding 🍷🍷🍷 — 7 years ago
A classic from 2007 that’s balanced for a great steak — 8 years ago
Favorite white... — 9 years ago
Surprise! Bordeaux like in the nose showing cassis, cedar and mocha. This was the best 65 that I have ever tasted and everyone's favorite of the flight. — 11 years ago
Good stuff — 11 years ago

One of the best chards I’ve tasted and I’m a Pinot fan of Brewer Clifton. I am going back for more. — 6 years ago
Ruby burgundy color. Jammy and fruit forward with berries and some spice. Smoky and a hint of umami. Rhubarb and strawberry. Tart cherry pies. Nice acidity with a hint of wet rubber or something in the palate. A tasty and unique southern red. — 7 years ago
The nose reveals; sweet vanillin, ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, floral blueberries, creamy, blackberries & black plum skin. Black licorice notes, granitic soils, light tobacco leaf, dry stone, light fresh herb notes, dry brush, soft leather with fresh red/blue and violet flowers.
The entry is ripe and juicy and evolves into big, dry, powdery tannins with deep, dark spice that sets on the palate with heat. Ripe, blackberries, dark cherries, floral blueberries, creamy, blackberries, black & plum skin. Black licorice notes, vanillin, granitic soils, light tobacco leaf, dry stone, light fresh herb notes, dry brush, soft leather with fresh red/blue and violet flowers. The acidity is like rainfall. The elegant, ripe, lush, polished, well balanced finish is delicious. Very luxurious mouthfeel.

A big and structured wine. Aromas of cherries, roasted coffee and fresh herbs. Broad-shouldered and chewy, with good mid-palate depth and firm tannins - plenty of length and grip on the finish. The wine seems nicely balanced, and should age very well. — 11 years ago
Fantastic on a humid hot day! Classic #GruVee — 11 years ago

As a nod to Karen (who some will remembered worked at Louis M. Martini decades ago—and is the nicest and best person to ever work in the wine industry) we opened this for my birthday. Paired it with a Tri Tip. It was a nice pairing. Good cab. It was better a couple years ago but still nice to drink for a special occasion. — a year ago
