Great vintage for intensity. A low yield in most areas of Piedmont. The wine is a Barolo of typicity. Clear, bright, garnet in color with orange to even yellowish rim. Medium concentration...delicate nose of big macerated cherries and some overripe strawberry, even rotting. White roses with baking spice initially followed by a choclate earth note to the finish. Some mushroom and musty notes as well with tar. The palate is very dry with medium weight and big cherry flavors with a raison like strawberry note. Chocolate, white flowers and lilac progress into a spicy cedar and tar finish. Firm tannins, medium-medium+ alcohol and great acid. The finish is medium. Complexity is medium. — 11 years ago
