Revisiting the Mahé & Ribo Syrah in honor of Sami-Odi taking the number 4 slot of James Suckling's "Top Australian Wines Of 2016." It's now had an additional 8 weeks rest in my cellar since I last sampled it shortly after its arrival to our shores. Wow! Inky purple color with a brooding nose of dark fruits , anise and sweet spices. Super silky tannins which perfectly compliment the dark fruits. A luxurious mouth feel bordering on savory-ness. Full-bodied and vibrant with beautiful structure. Lingering finish. This is not your classic/typical "sweet" Australian Shiraz ( my guess is that Fraser harvests rather early), but the fruit purity and overall structure speaks for itself. Congrats Fraser! I look forward to a long relationship. — 8 years ago
