9.0

Rich, lush; blackberries, black plum, blackberries, boysenberries, black pepper, grilled meats, leather, showing a little too much wood, lavender, violets. Acidity is high and the alcohol shows hot at this stage. — 8 years ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2015

Oreno, takes its name from the river crossing the estate where the farmhouse is found. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 mos in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Big ripe berry fruit aromas with sweet spice notes. On the palate rich blackberry & cherry flavors with cacao, tobacco, oak & flinty tones. Firm big tannins needing time showing great aging potential, lingering ending with succulent earthy mineral character. ‘15 much better. Tasting Sample! — 7 years ago

Livermore Valley Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

9.2

Fruit profile is somewhere between 12 & 13 with a lean towards 12. Drink amazingly easy for a 14. Medium body & the structure is leaner. The florals are incredible in the 14. Everything is so soft, ripe and rich. Drink now and cellar 10 years. — 8 years ago

Vanilla and berry at first.. Velvet and smooth on the mouth. Then a bit of a bite at the end. Not overwhelming at all, so I wouldn't be afraid to pair it with lighter dishes or to sip solo. — 10 years ago

Morning Fog Livermore Valley Chardonnay 2016

This yellow-gold wine rings the “old-style Cali” bell in all the right ways. A nose of apricots, mangoes and apples is helped along with the smell of buttered popcorn. Oak treats the palate as well, draping over the tropical fruit like a sunshade. The acidity is zesty, yet the mouthfeel tends toward creaminess due to the wine sitting on the lees for five months. The oak is a definite part of the wine, but the effect is softened enough so that it's a pleasure, not a pain. — 7 years ago

The Premier Livermore Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

I think this is my favorite wine from steven kent. Would love to try this against some good vintage lineages. It's got a great nose, mouth watering acid and flavors, and enough tannins to get your attention. Not dark dark fruit. More mixed with prominent red fruit. Really in a nice spot. These wines are really meant to have this kind of age on them. — 8 years ago
