Not sure this day would ever happen but alas, the magic of Etna and the magic of Cave Ox in Solicchiata, we decided that it was time - and on a day when the producer invited us over to join him at his table, we got to experience this living, ever evolving tribute to Etna, coming from 100+ year old prephylox vines from 910 m ASL from the "Grand Contrada" of Barbabaecchi. Not to mention the kick ass 2014 vintage. It was intoxicatingly fragrant with earthy red fruits erupting from the glass, dense, concentrated, complex and constantly evolving flavors with spice, leather, and seductive dark cherry, and a dreamingly long mouthfeel that lingered and danced along the palette. I like this quite a bit, reminds me a bit of one of my faves, Clos des Vignes de Maynes 'Cuvée 910' at about half the price. It's not as good, but does have that very light Pinot noir with a little funk quality we like. — 10 years ago

2004 Pegau. Always great. My favorite wine. Give me a vertical of Pegau on a desert island and I am happy. The family preferred the Cab so I enjoyed almost all of this delicious 04. Fighting with my waiter for the last pour in the bottle. Not the greatest vintage but so well balanced and intergrated flavors tonight. The seaweed/barnyard nose was just perfect with my steak at 910. — 10 years ago
