Juicy fruit. Petting zoo! Funky and delicious. — 7 years ago
We had this last weekend at @plate&bottle dinner. We paired it with Morel Mushroom Gnocchi and then with lamb. Both of those paired well. However, I saved a bottle for this weekend for my Brother-in-law. Tonight we hung in the backyard at Dave's steakhouse. We all ordered the Ribeye. I knew last weekend that the Ribeye would be the ultimate pair and it didn't disappoint. The nose has light barnyard. Leather, tobacco, underbrush, lean ripe fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum and decayed florals. The body is medium with well resolved tannins. It's showing some cooked green pepper. Ruby; blackberries, dark cherries, baked black plum, strawberries. There's a little VA (bandaid), soft leather, underbrush, crushed dry rock, stones, dark rich earth, tobacco with ash, decayed dark florals, round, soft acidity and long, lush beautiful finish with dark spice on the end of the finish. Photos of; Chateau Lillian Ladouys, their old gnarly Cabernet vines and barrel room. A 9.4 with every bite of Ribeye! A recent direct Chateau purchase. — 8 years ago
tasting young and mineral. supple on the palate. — 9 years ago
Awesome!!! Soft and quiet, baking spice and florals. Still very fresh and not drinking like five year old Beaujolais. — 10 years ago
Another 4th Friday for the books, and one of the best of the year!
I love this vineyard. Tomato paste; raspberry and herbal spices; has an older nose but a very young palate...spicy red fruit finish. A marriage of Napa fruit bomb Syrah and WA state funky Syrah. This hid the ABV well. I think I prefer Lillian and Herman Story’s version of this vineyard a touch more. — 7 years ago
Great story behind this wine, with a FANTASTIC winemaker, Maggie Harrison, previously of SQN. She was great enough at what she was doing that Manfred Krankl pushed her out to start her own thing, and that was Lillian. Then a year later she found her self in Willamete Valley, beginning to produce knock out Pinot Noir. This stuff is WOW good, with muscle and great tenacity. I would love to see some age on it. :) — 7 years ago
2016 Melba Lillian Chardonnay. Light yet delicious. Compliment to Caesar salad. — 8 years ago
Tangerines, honeysuckle, limestone. Refreshing with just the right amount of acidity. Nice job Maggie! — 8 years ago

I loved this. Drank it warm, well cellar temp. Medium bodied with layers of honey and citrus. I would compare this to the Alban Estate or the Lillian which are both outstanding. Maybe not quite as successful as these wines. Flavors not quite as well integrated or polished. Still a super imteresting wine. — 7 years ago
Lillian likes - grown in Roero region to the north. Used to be a sea, can taste salty notes — 8 years ago

With Dan and Lillian at risibisi in Petaluma. Wonderful Italian dinner, lovely wine. — 9 years ago
Warming, rich, dried sour cherry. Good alone as a funky but not too funky wine to sip with Lillian after dinner. So delicious. — 10 years ago
A real stunner, the '06 Lillian Syrah, sourced from the White Hawk Vyd., is a saturated inky purple. Evident aromas include smoky spice, licorice, Dr. Pepper, intense blackberry, vanilla and flowers. Perfectly balanced and pure, this graceful Syrah has velvety tannins and a gorgeous finish. — 12 years ago
