My first Demi-Sev 1938 from a pristine bottle. No significant RS left in the structure but you could see how important the sugar was to carry on until today incredible aromatics. Moussé is known for its Pinot Meunier yet this is 100% Chardonnay from a vineyard that was not well suited for Meunier due to the particularly deep soil. I found this to be a delight with lemon-lime citrus of tremendous precision. Minerals like it was San Pellegrino and a long finish. More chiseled than rich. So refreshing. Shimmering magenta. Expressive red/blue fruit and licorice aromas show excellent clarity and pick up mineral and exotic spice flourishes as the wine opens up. Broad and fleshy on entry, offers concentrated boysenberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that tighten up and become sweeter with air.
