Gotta quote the Beatles on this one, “strawberry fields forever!” I don’t know how there is this much wine here for $12.00. Not shy whatsoever on the nose, palate, and finish. Smart integration of oak; it accentuates the fruit by adding nuances of clove, clay pot, and leather. So pretty as well. Potpourri and a pepper medley kick up the florals. Classic juicy tomato on the finish, but those creamy strawberry notes don’t seem to give up. Bravo 👏 — 8 years ago

Great wine indeed. Nose is complex, camphor, dry amarena cherry, some flint, no oxidation not fading on this bottle yet.
On the palate, Fruit is gone for this bottle, wine is dominated by its tannic structure that is on the dry side, almost austere. I was expecting a fleshier, mellower tannin. Dry herbs, dry raisins, cherry again.
Long finish, good acidity that’s keeps the wine alive and well going.
Mitigate the intensity with proteins and juice/sauce.
Osso bucco with prunes will work. We did Fiorentina and it was ok. The crust and smokiness did not help, over exhibiting the dryness of tannins. — 8 years ago

This was just stupid haha I quit life for a couple minutes this day. Just when Merlot started disappointing. The Italians said pause, rolled up their sleeves and punched me right in the kisser. Easily one of, if not THEE best Tuscan red I've ever had. Additionally, the best 100% Merlot I've ever had. This wine makes me crazy. I quit. — 10 years ago
I like it! — 10 years ago
Love this unusual cab franc-merlot blend from Andrea Franchetti!, also an unusual guy with some rock'n'roll background with which I seem to sympathise. If this is the future of the much-loathed Super Tuscans, sign me in! Oxidative approach, racking, 2nd, 3rd & 4th passage barriques, cement tanks. A wine that sits nicely next to you and invites to enjoy, not a masculine ego-show. Looking forward to try his Passopisciaro very soon #rosso #toscane #andreafranchetti @WineTraining @Dusan Bradanovich — 11 years ago
Le Volte strikes again! I prefer this wine with less age, but the '05 was super dark and saturated in such a way that the younger wines could only dare to dream to be. — 12 years ago
After decanting for an hour, it display a very soft fresh berry aromas with hint of vanilla. "Drinking it is like eating berries in the woods. " described by <Vino Italiano> when talking about Sangiovese. I can't believe this is a 16 years old bottle. Cepparello is the first 100% Sangiovese wine in Chianti. It adopted the "Super Tuscan" philosophy but rooted the wine in Tuscany deeply. Definitely gonna clear out the stock from Hedonism. — 13 years ago
really quite delicious. can taste the violets, which I love — 6 years ago
Very New World style. By the nose and palate, this one allost seemed to resemble a Malbec. I believe this is 100% Merlot. Decadent black and purple youthful fruit and a hint of chocolate on the nose. Entry is gritty, black and purple fruit with cocoa nibs and herbal character. Herbs carry to the middle where a baking spice note shows, but again this wind seems to have more of a dark purple and tarry black fruit background. Very weighted finish. Thick and inky. I think this could benefit from a few more years of bottle aging but drinking well now! — 7 years ago

Whether I prefer this or Rancia depends on which one I have open at the time. Either confirms that Sangiovese doesn’t need to come from Montalcino to make truly profound, voluptuous wines. — 8 years ago

Young, bold, 50% Cab and 50% Merlot, rich and chocolate, tight, not sure if I can wait 10 years for optimal drinking — 10 years ago
This is my go-to bottle of wine when I don't see anything else that I want to try. Always pleasant. Always enjoyable. — 11 years ago
Very good the second day. — 12 years ago
A very nice supertuscan...round deep fruit from the Cabernet and beautiful tannins from the Sangiovese. — 12 years ago
I really enjoyed the rich flavors in this lovely Italian red. — 13 years ago
What a surprise! A must try, this 2015 vintage is exceeded my expectations. It brings everything I expect from Tuscany and more. Unfortunately I drank it to fast to experience all the changes to come. Thankfully I have more. — 7 years ago
Entry level Sangiovese from a tried and true Brunello estate. Certainly not lacking in structure with black cherries, berries, firm acid, and hearty tannic grip. Pair this with meat lover’s pizza or bolognese. — 7 years ago
Excellent wine, but very strong. It gets better after breathing for a long time. It’s a Bordeaux blend but in a Super Tuscan style. Well-made, with strong pepper in the start, and leather in the finish. But I am not sure why this wine reflects Maremma, and I prefer something unique, or less expensive. — 8 years ago
Spot on blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, just what I needed to stay warm and cozy on this cloudy day in Provincetown! Props to Spindlers for having this by the glass. — 9 years ago
2013, blueberry brick and long finish. Cool wine glad I got to try this. Sassicia 2013 is next! — 9 years ago
Crisp and refreshing. Just what i was looking for. — 10 years ago
I just had this wine for the 2nd time. 1st being in Italy over thanksgiving. This is a very complex wine that needs food but a great Super Tuscan! — 10 years ago
Fantastic Italian blend. — 11 years ago
Not complex but a great little everyday wine. I rate this so high because of it's versatility in food pairing and cost ($11.00). Pleasant to drink on it's own, as well. — 13 years ago

It is very typical of a #supertuscan wine = deep ruby color, medium(+) aromas and flavours of black cherry, red and black plum and hints of cassis and mint with toasty undertones. The tannins need a little polishing. I believe it needs to age. — 6 years ago
