really quite delicious. can taste the violets, which I love — 5 years ago
Excellent 2008. Bold and dry, Just the way I like it! — 6 years ago
Entry level Sangiovese from a tried and true Brunello estate. Certainly not lacking in structure with black cherries, berries, firm acid, and hearty tannic grip. Pair this with meat lover’s pizza or bolognese. — 6 years ago
Gotta quote the Beatles on this one, “strawberry fields forever!” I don’t know how there is this much wine here for $12.00. Not shy whatsoever on the nose, palate, and finish. Smart integration of oak; it accentuates the fruit by adding nuances of clove, clay pot, and leather. So pretty as well. Potpourri and a pepper medley kick up the florals. Classic juicy tomato on the finish, but those creamy strawberry notes don’t seem to give up. Bravo 👏 — 7 years ago
I was afraid I may have waited too long to open this one, but I was not disappointed. A wonderful Italian wine. Will look for this one again, hopefully I can find it for the prices indicated on this App. I apparently over paid for this wine.??? But I thought it was a quality wine. — 8 years ago
This was just stupid haha I quit life for a couple minutes this day. Just when Merlot started disappointing. The Italians said pause, rolled up their sleeves and punched me right in the kisser. Easily one of, if not THEE best Tuscan red I've ever had. Additionally, the best 100% Merlot I've ever had. This wine makes me crazy. I quit. — 9 years ago

Fantastic Italian blend. — 10 years ago
Le Volte strikes again! I prefer this wine with less age, but the '05 was super dark and saturated in such a way that the younger wines could only dare to dream to be. — 11 years ago
I really enjoyed the rich flavors in this lovely Italian red. — 12 years ago
Another Trader Joe’s gem that made me think I was drinking something far more expensive. Enjoyed with a salad and spaghetti. Spicy and fruity. Excellent wine — 4 years ago
Happy Father's Day 2020 to all; I'm posting pictures of our fur-kids, an independent and somewhat self-interested bunch. Two boys (9) and two girls (3), all rescued from various locations across the East Coast of the US. They generally bring the utmost of joy to my life on a daily basis.
Nose has blackberry jam on moist leather, minor cedar, very light barnyard notes, grilled blackberry,
blueberry compote, brewed dark roasted coffee, wet garden soil, chocolate vines candy and dried orange peel.
Palate has over-ripe blackberry, wet tanned leather, dark chocolate syrup, dehydrated black cherry, chocolate covered blueberry and moist cedar.
Silky smooth, intense finish running +2m, still showing tannins. Expect this bottle to easily hold another 10+ years without concern, in proper storage.
Decanted ~5h. Paired with well salted (in advance), medium-rare, grilled NY strip steaks from my favorite, local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm) and sauted, early season, baby squash in ozro with our garden herbs.
INAUGURAL vintage on this wine, I certainly didn't realize that fact when we bought it in September 2005! This has been in storage for the prior 15 years, just coming back home in January 2020.
Merlot 50% / Cabernet Sauvignon 40% / Petit Verdot 10% — 5 years ago
High hopes for this. Old world wine that’s extremely tight. I knew it needed time but had to try as it was my first attempt at this wine. Open and decanted for over an hour and the tannins would not let go. It need a decade. :(. Wanted to love it and can’t. Hopefully time will matter — 6 years ago
Severe cowshit on the nose. I shud have decanted this, but I’m impatient. Barnyard plays out on the palate, too. This is tannic, yet sweet. Structured, with a weighty mouthfeel. Superb finish with notes of cedar, roasted almonds and black cherries. This will be singing 3 years from now. If you like power and exuberance, give Eneo a try.
AG puked all over this - I taste no Bret!!! — 7 years ago

Crisp and refreshing. Just what i was looking for. — 9 years ago
This is my go-to bottle of wine when I don't see anything else that I want to try. Always pleasant. Always enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Very good the second day. — 11 years ago
A very nice supertuscan...round deep fruit from the Cabernet and beautiful tannins from the Sangiovese. — 11 years ago
Excellent Italian Super Tuscan with good acidity and nice strawberry and cherry flavors. Short finish but excellent with fresh pasta and pesto. — 5 years ago
It is very typical of a #supertuscan wine = deep ruby color, medium(+) aromas and flavours of black cherry, red and black plum and hints of cassis and mint with toasty undertones. The tannins need a little polishing. I believe it needs to age. — 5 years ago
Very New World style. By the nose and palate, this one allost seemed to resemble a Malbec. I believe this is 100% Merlot. Decadent black and purple youthful fruit and a hint of chocolate on the nose. Entry is gritty, black and purple fruit with cocoa nibs and herbal character. Herbs carry to the middle where a baking spice note shows, but again this wind seems to have more of a dark purple and tarry black fruit background. Very weighted finish. Thick and inky. I think this could benefit from a few more years of bottle aging but drinking well now! — 6 years ago
It’s almost like clockwork - if my wife & I have a white wine for dinner she wants to end off on a red wine. More often than not it’s an Italian red that she wants. She pulled this selection off of her rack and I must say, it’s struttin’ its stuff. On the nose dense, supple dark fruits with dried tobacco leaves, cloves, espresso, dark chocolate shavings mixed with shaved black winter truffle, and mild notes of fig. On the palate concentrated yet graceful, drinking more like a comparatively aged Napa Cab than anything else. The tannins are well on their way to integration with only a slightly astringent mouthfeel (which I didn’t find off-putting in the least bit). This is a good wine that I think is drinking above its price point. — 7 years ago
Spot on blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, just what I needed to stay warm and cozy on this cloudy day in Provincetown! Props to Spindlers for having this by the glass. — 8 years ago
I just had this wine for the 2nd time. 1st being in Italy over thanksgiving. This is a very complex wine that needs food but a great Super Tuscan! — 9 years ago
Not complex but a great little everyday wine. I rate this so high because of it's versatility in food pairing and cost ($11.00). Pleasant to drink on it's own, as well. — 11 years ago

Gaja Ca’Marcanda Magari 2017: Smooth. Balanced. Inviting. Medium tannins. Medium acidity. Full flavors. Blackberry. Tobacco. Spice. Earth. Overall, a rich (& lovely) Super Tuscan wine consisting of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Petit Verdot. Drinking fantastic right now but if given the chance, I would hold. Great day to all! Cheers🍷 — 4 years ago
