Great texture and richness but the acidity makes it weightless...Delicous.. — 9 years ago
Made by Mr Smith I should have added this wine maker to my list of special producers. This wine reminded me of a great Las Cases from saint julien. Silky and delicious with wood fully integrated and enough acid to take this abort decade this wine was profound and reminded me of the relationship I was having with my glass the entire time the bottle was open. — 11 years ago

This is the Las Higueras Vineyard Lot #72. I’ve requested Delectable add it.
On the nose; perfumed strawberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cherries dark moist soil, blueberries, light baking spiceand field violets.
The body is full and rich. Tannins soft and beautiful yet a firm backbone. Fruits are candied in style. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cherries, creamy raspberries, light minerality and dry top soil, dry stone, black cherry cola/licorice, excellent acid and beautiful polished, long finish.

Again, I did not take notes but remember liking this wine. It was full bodied with lush ripe dark fruit with edgy minerals and a well polished finish. Good but not as special as their El Cerro Gualtallary.
Jeff and his partner make a number of small production wines under a few different brand names. Vivo o Muerto are their ultra premium wines. They both worked at Catena Zapata for 15 years. They gained a lot of valuable experience but, yearned to make their own wines. They’ve found great sites and great fruit grower relationships. Their wines are beautifully elegant and polished with nothing that bites backs.
