Think: "Wood fired pizza With prosciutto, smoked tomtoes and the edges of the pizza were burnt."
Spiciness, meaty, more earthy, medium bodied but good weight. Some nice acidity. Floral but not really a fruity wine. Dry but not as intense where you can't seem to take another sip. For being as earthy as it is the softness from it really gives a strong but balanced contrast. — 9 years ago

Dark and velvety but very pleasant. Slightly tannic but nowhere near what I was expecting - surprisingly quaffable. — 9 years ago

Cherry nose with sour cherry notes on the palate pretty tart . This wine hums when it's matched with food. Oregano really ignites a perfume of raspberry and candied flower. — 8 years ago
Smoked pepperoni, pine, dried red berries, hints of vanilla foam and a nice, lingering minerality of stones & rocks evaporating rain. Spice red and black fruit, subtle tartness with a long, pleasant, fruity bitterness on the finish. Great complexity for the price! — 9 years ago

The inky black/garnet '11 Tobin James Lagrein 'Silver Reserve' is a new varietal for me. This Italian grape is quite Syrah-like with concentrated dried plum, blackberry, black tea and spice box aromas. Rich and chewy with a nice dollop of sweet oak on the mid-palate. Medium finish with lingering dark fruit on the back end. Looking forward to my next bottle. — 9 years ago
