A very cool blue fruit expression here with the inky lagrein blended with cab and merlot. I imagine the Merlot and Cab for flesh and body and touch of modernity. I was hoping for this to taste more rustic. Quite slick. Medium bodied. M+ finish. M+ acid. M tannins — 8 years ago

Absolutely delicious. Prefect pair for grilled pork, similar to a dryer Zinfandel. Reasonably full bodied but not so big as to demand a big steak. — 7 years ago
A nice light bodied, easy drinking red blend, low acidity, peppery at first with a long finish of blackberry jam. — 9 years ago
Toasty, pretty, dry straw. — 9 years ago
Smoked pepperoni, pine, dried red berries, hints of vanilla foam and a nice, lingering minerality of stones & rocks evaporating rain. Spice red and black fruit, subtle tartness with a long, pleasant, fruity bitterness on the finish. Great complexity for the price! — 10 years ago
Smells like lardo and herbs. Drinks like dried berries, game meat, and mud. — 10 years ago
Think: "Wood fired pizza With prosciutto, smoked tomtoes and the edges of the pizza were burnt."
Spiciness, meaty, more earthy, medium bodied but good weight. Some nice acidity. Floral but not really a fruity wine. Dry but not as intense where you can't seem to take another sip. For being as earthy as it is the softness from it really gives a strong but balanced contrast. — 10 years ago
Oaky/yeast, spice, berries — 11 years ago
Good balance of fruit, tannins, and acid. Nice depth. 2010 — 7 years ago
Loved. Great, interesting, fuller-bodied red. (Goccolina with P. Gray, R. Asokan, A. Volandt) — 8 years ago
Usual lovely balance that you get in Lagrein Riserva. Missing out on some of the fruit and presence in the mouth that you get with the Muri Gries — 8 years ago
Cherries and nice acidity... Served it with Nona's homemade ravioli and was delicious! — 8 years ago
I'm thinking Italian Beaujolais...... Lite but packed with flavor — 9 years ago
Cherry nose with sour cherry notes on the palate pretty tart . This wine hums when it's matched with food. Oregano really ignites a perfume of raspberry and candied flower. — 9 years ago

Really ballsy and unique wine. Today’s tasting in Yountville will go down as one of my favorites of all time. First I’d ever heard of this grape, grown in Paso. Black fruit covered in licorice. If you go (and I’d highly recommend it), go for the cheese pairing it’s well worth it. — 7 years ago
