Haven’t had a Lagrein in quite some time.
This is typically dark both in colour & flavour with fresh, ripe blueberries & huckleberries, some dark plums and a healthy pinch of exotic spice - anise, allspice, cardamom, black pepper.
On the palate this is silky & plush yet with vibrant acidity and nice juicy tannins. Good weight & length, with the wood perfectly integrated & showing a nice backdrop to the ripe fruit.
A lovely wine. — 3 years ago
Well balanced, fresh and just perfect with spaghetti allá burata. — 5 years ago

Absolutely delicious. Prefect pair for grilled pork, similar to a dryer Zinfandel. Reasonably full bodied but not so big as to demand a big steak. — 6 years ago
Delicious California Lagrein. — 4 years ago
Really ballsy and unique wine. Today’s tasting in Yountville will go down as one of my favorites of all time. First I’d ever heard of this grape, grown in Paso. Black fruit covered in licorice. If you go (and I’d highly recommend it), go for the cheese pairing it’s well worth it. — 6 years ago
Loved. Great, interesting, fuller-bodied red. (Goccolina with P. Gray, R. Asokan, A. Volandt) — 7 years ago
Lovely example of Italian cab. Lots of life left. — 7 years ago
Roasted plums, raspberry, smoke. Savory & Syrah-like, except for a pronounced Alpine minerality. No reduction, no brett. — 8 years ago
Delicious lagrein. Fruity. — 3 years ago

Good balance of fruit, tannins, and acid. Nice depth. 2010 — 6 years ago
Usual lovely balance that you get in Lagrein Riserva. Missing out on some of the fruit and presence in the mouth that you get with the Muri Gries — 7 years ago
Cherries and nice acidity... Served it with Nona's homemade ravioli and was delicious! — 7 years ago
