Kind of amazingly still hanging in there. Reminded me of aged Loire valley cab franc. Super acid driven even now but that aged earthy vegetably type flavor in a great way. Red pepper over green pepper. Super fun — 11 years ago
As promised in an earlier review, I wanted to discover what black currant tastes like since we all use it to describe flavor in our wine tasting! This IS NOT WINE , only juice so don't get confused. It is 100% pure unsweetened black currant juice with no preservatives nor artificial flavors. It is wonderful!!!!!!! I do not like sweet juice such as orange juice or pineapple juice. This is dark purple - like a dark cab. It has a sour blackberry / boysenberry / cranberry juice flavor. However it is easier to drink and it doesn't make my lips curl up from being too sour! It leaves my mouth dry! It has a long finish that is sweet!!!! But the beginning is a bit sharp on the sour side which I love. It is simply lovely! I do suggest tasting and smelling the things we use to describe our wine. I am going to drink a lot of this juice from now on! Probably daily! — 9 years ago
Wow. Just wow. Bright and beautiful. Smells like strawberries drying in the sun. Amazing grip. Just amazing. This wine is blowing my mind. Dances on the pallet with rhubarb, cinnamon and clove, finishing with cola and the feeling of staring out across the Willamette...and it lasts and lasts. — 11 years ago
Delicious. Refreshing acidity. Long and lingering finish. At the Knudsen Winery tasting in NYC. — 9 years ago
Tasted together, the 1983, I'm told was the better vintage. After 32 years, that sentiment still holds true. The aromatics have developed into a demure and perfumey elixir of dried rose petals, forest floor, spearmint, sassafras, and allspice. Its brickish in the glass, the color of worn leather, and yields intriguing, atypical notes of wild game, sultana, dried blood and iron ore. Knudsen Vineyard blocks are seated on iron-rich Jory soils, is it possible that this is the evolution of Pinot grown in this soil type? — 10 years ago
Birth year! Surprisingly lively with all the accolades of wisdom, just like me, ha! ;) — 11 years ago
Dr. Owen Bargreen
The 2017 Knudsen Vineyards Chardonnay was sourced from their estate vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley. Weighing in at 13.5% alcohol, this starts off with a bouquet of Meyer lemon zest, Challah bread, Pink Lady apple and shades of clove. The palate reveals a silky texture and a soft mouthfeel that feels more than inviting. There is a wonderful feeling of elegance to this wine as it drifts through the palate in a seamless fashion. Citrus fruit and melon flavors connect with the bright minerality. Showing beautifully now, this will continue to develop lovely nuances as it evolves over the next decade or more.
