#DRC #Richebourg 1966: out of the gate its nose was as compelling as the accompanying La Romanée-Conti 1996, the former displaying an explosive and complex swirl of mature cherry, brown sugar, and leather. But ten minutes later that leathery aspect began dominating the others and the wine started a deep, unexpected decline, its sexy sweetness fading like a volume knob twisting to off. We marveled at this unusual shift, continuing on to our final glasses. Another surprise came at the end the Riche partially returned to the sweetness and succulence of its first moments. Wow, snuck a delicious Sask ale on here! This is closer to a porter with a distinct toasted malt flavour. Drink at cellar temp, don't be a knob! — 11 years ago

Very easy drinking red blend. Big fan — 9 years ago
Wow! Varietally correct and taste of terroir, this has all the guts for a gold medal: vibrant acidity, firm tannins, and sturdy black cherry/cran sweetness. Glad I have one more in the cellar - opening in 2017-18 — 9 years ago

This wine is an absolute winner. Goes with any dish, great quaffing wine, perfect for friends & family. You're a knob if you paying more than R40/bottle. Lookout for specials. Boekenhoutskloof, you biscuits!! — 9 years ago
