I'm calling this one Weekday Pinot. Going with roast bacon wrapped chicken breast , sweet tater planks and baby sweet peppers. Nice for the price! Good balance of savory to fruitiness. — 6 years ago
A beautiful Santa Cruz mountain cab highlighting all the great characteristics of the terroir. Dark. Bold. Ripe fruit. Soft tannins. Elegant finish. — 7 years ago
Rustic fruits of; plum, figs, dates, herbs, grilled meats, very old leather and dry flowers on the nose. The color is still opaque with a garnet rim. The palate is stewed fruits; cooked rhubarb, baked plum, stewed dark cherries, dry cranberries, dry raspberries, rustic blackberries, figs, dates, stewed blueberries, black licorice anise, old leather, dry brown dusty soil, dry pebbles, dry brush, steeped tea, dry flowers, candied wood shavings, light spice, softened baking spices, beautiful acidity. There's great balance of fruit and earth, beautiful structure, long length and still perfect tension. The elegant long finish is second to none. 48 years in bottle and still such life due to the high acid 66 vintage. Latour is the king of kings for a reason and it's well deserved. Happy 5-0 Sofia. Love you!!! It continues to improve and put on weight as it opens up. It's so delicate & beautiful! Stunning with the wagyu beef. It's in the conversation for the best red wine I've had!!! — 8 years ago
2013 tasted at jack sprat wine dinner 4/6/2016 paired w green apple/celery/gargonzola app - delicious. Nice and dry - not your typical sweet reisling — 8 years ago
The 2009 Kings Row is an interesting wine with rich tobacco, cherry and licorice aromas. This has a lusciously smooth taste of the red fruit, pencil shavings with a slight hint of spices that lingers on your palate makes this a nice guilty pleasure. It is costly and a nice treat but there are others out there that have a better value to quality ratio for those that don't want to drop big bucks. But if you can swing it please treat yourself. #kingsrow #calistoga #checkerboard — 9 years ago

One of my favorite dinners was on the menu here at Chez Skip - cassoulet! And my knowledge of wine pairing is as sophisticated as a toddler eating spaghetti, I said to myself - hey I am eating French food and I like this French wine, so hey why not? And that was that. But as wine can be, it evoked its memory of when I had it first. I remember sitting out in the patio and being impressed with it. I thought to myself I could really enjoy French wines, but as history has shown, that was clearly a short lived notion.
Knowing it had been some time, I had an odd feeling, so I checked my Delectable history. Indeed, this was the very first wine I had rated!
So, to my friends, do you remember your first wine on here? Was it anything memorable? @philip Angino @Martin A.
