Friday night random whites...
Fresh, clean and refreshing, light White peach notes. Nose is attractive, but a little too cold on first taste, so slightly closed initially.
Off-dry blend of NY's Finger Lakes region Cayuga & Vignoles, nose is really opening up nicely with some air and warming of the wine in the glass. Not overly complex, but this is a solid buy for the $10/$13 (wine club/retail) price. — 8 years ago
Pear, lemon curd, pineapple, grapefruit, honey, limestone and hints of tropical fruit. Great acidity and balance. — 9 years ago
Excellent and complex. Minerality and many different fruit overtones. Decently dry for Riesling. — 9 years ago
Black cherry, raspberry currant, licorice, dried herbs, dusty leather and oak. Great structure and well-integrated tannins. — 10 years ago
Fascinating take on vignoles. Bone dry and one of the most tannic whites I've ever tasted. Chilled it was just too harshly structured and lacking fruit. At room temp it blossomed with dried pineapple and apricot. Long and almost gritty finish. Not for everyone. And not going to impressed within 30 seconds. Take your time and tease out the layers and complexity. — 10 years ago
A little thin, $13 a bottle, a bit like a Beaujolais, not quite as fruity. — 11 years ago
This is a fabulous red and the best I'm NYS. For $25-30 this is a great buy. The 2009 is equally good. — 13 years ago
