Not a Kenneth Volk but a new Pinot in the Calera lineup. Very nice now, but with a few more years, it will be even better — 8 years ago
Cherry and dark chocolate. Well balanced. Great wine. December 2, 2015 — 9 years ago
Not a lot of Chard in in my @Delectable Wine list, I guess if I taste more like this one there would be. The Durrell Ranch speaks for itself & Kenneth did a great job balancing texture, oak & fruit — 10 years ago
Good light Pinot — 10 years ago
Wild Horse founder Ken Volk poured this himself at a dinner at Artisan restaurant in Paso Robles. I could not believe how fresh this tasted — 10 years ago

Celebrating my mom with this! As of today she is a registered nurse! So good. Ripe cherry and wet stone. — 12 years ago
Modest tannins, cherry, good structure, great california red — 13 years ago
Plenty of life left in this one. Delicious! — 8 years ago
08 vintage - decanted for 2 hours & it is just a great blend of fruit, wet rock, with a smooth mouthfeel. A slight tobacco & pepper finish. It's velvet & pairs exceptionally well with creamy stinky cheese. — 8 years ago
Succulent and subtle, great taste with a strong smooth tannic finish. — 9 years ago
Best of the obscure flight — 10 years ago
Lovely floral aromatics, sophisticated spice notes, and elegant balance. Definitely a must have for the summer. Paired it with a nice Peruvian style roasted chicken. — 10 years ago
I may need to make another visit to the Central Coast just so I can pick up a stash of this! This is a very small production so online sales are unavailable! It's right next to Kenneth Volk as well, which is another favorite. Smooth, lush, with spice on the long finish.

Great body to this wine. — 12 years ago
The James Berry Vineyard was planted in 1981, but didn't have any Syrah until 1990, so this would have been one of the first productive vintages from those vines (some Syrah from the San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey was blended in as well hence the Central Coast designation.) Kenneth Volk was the winemaker for Wild Horse at this time and he did a really nice job. Clocks in at an un-Saxum-like 13.1% alc. Just starting to brown at the rim. Refreshing acidity and fresh dark fruit profile with nice savory and tertiary notes. I'd place the peak for this a few years ago, but still drinking well and a nice conversation piece. — 8 years ago
Fairly spicy. Good fruit but not overwhelming. Pretty good balance, but still on the fruity side. Slightly light on the body. — 9 years ago
Firm, grippy, tart blackberry spice — 10 years ago
Yummy spice — 10 years ago
Unoak beautiful Chardonnay.

Nice wine ... Liked it a lot! — 10 years ago

Pretty like violets & wrought iron steel; soft tannins but with structured acidity & smooth textures. I'd only had Negrette from Ken Volk in Cali, but we're celebrating the defeat of Le Pen with an indigenous French wonder — 8 years ago
