This is Bearwallow Pinot from Anderson Valley. Whereas the previous Kanzler was all about power and fruit, this is all about terroir. Black cherry and some dirty raspberry are very present, combined with a little bit of eucalyptus and allspice. However the notes of the soil are very present, and are really the backbone of this Pinot. Very good, but stark contrast from any of the other Pinots in this 2015 lineup in my opinion. Still damn good with dinner and beyond! — 7 years ago

My first Boar’s View Pinot. Maybe because it was enjoyed next to a RM Kanzler Pinot, but this wasn’t as large and cab like as I expected. Fruit was restrained, and it seemed coy. I got a lot of earthy and cedar/kirsch notes, with strawberry and rhubarb showing up at the end. Decant or hold. — 7 years ago

Really nice Pinot and my first from this region. Similar in flavor profile as a Sonoma Pinot maybe from Kanzler vineyard a bit Burgundian in style. Had it at Black Sheep in Jacksonville which was awesome! — 11 years ago
