Had it again in September 2012.
Spectacular colour, ruby with hints of orange on the edges, fascinating brilliance. Thousands shades of scents. From wild berries to iron, savoury, minerally, juniper and so much more....
Wine that will last for a long haul, but it is already perfectly enjoyable. Superb palate. Super long with very unusual flavours. — 8 years ago
Fresh juniper all day, the addition of honey makes a very interesting, almost sauterne-ish mouthfeel. Brilliant. — 8 years ago
Soft juniper, coriander, citrus and pepper nose. Very smooth and flavorful — 8 years ago
Dark cherries, juniper, and walnutty oak. 2006 — 9 years ago
This is a superb, complex Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Michel & Stephane Ogier. The 1998 La Belle Hélène opens with a saturating, perfumy nose of wild blackberry thicket, olive tapenade, rare meat, sandalwood and violets. This particular bottle has both concentration and structure, at this point it''s drinking beautifully. With 30 months aging on new oak, La Belle Hélène is a wine that requires patience and time. Finishes with layers of Garrigue, juniper berry, spice and and a trace of black strap molasses. — 10 years ago
Intense purple color with a brick red meniscus. Significant viscosity & intense aromas of fresh plum, coffee & baking spices. Notes of slate & redwood in the aromatic distance. Full bodied flavors of dried cherry with notes of coffee, chocolate, juniper berry, pepper & brown spice. Finish is chalky with wet gravel notes. Medium acidity, med plus tannin with a long complex finish. Kick ass bottle for under $40. Drink now to 2022. — 10 years ago
Zoiks. Beauty of a Smargard. Juniper and sage with a viscous savory honey backbone. — 11 years ago
Bit of bite at first open, hopefully will mellow out. Nice funky flavors. Raspberry, blackberry, dirt. After a bit it taste a bit more floral, maybe a little liquorice. Juniper? — 7 years ago
Limestone and lanolin on the nose, with hints of lemon pith and spring blossoms coming through. A little oily on the palate, but opens with ripe lemon and grapefruit, finishing with white peaches, juicy nectarines, and hints of white peppercorn, Juniper berries, and and river stone. Lovely, acid-driven and bone-dry wine! — 7 years ago
Fair to say the jury is still out on whether Shiraz works in the northern part of Margaret River but this is very good. Plummy with a hint of butterscotch (oak) and touch of black pepper. Medium bodied - fleshy with softening tannins. Short term cellaring. Very satisfying. — 8 years ago
Campaccio is medium-bodied red with rich finish. Nice complement to juniper-brined pork chop. — 8 years ago
Monkey 47 Dry Distiller Gin. Slightly hazy, water white, colourless. Pronounced intensity of perfume, juniper, lingonberry, violets, lavender, orange and grapefruit zest. With water added, more perfume and citrus notes to the fore. Dry on the palate. Warming alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity. Long finish. Very complex. Outstanding example of a premium gin. — 9 years ago
Amazing color. Gooseberry and juniper and then wrung dry towel finish. Out of magnum. Love me some Mt. Etna Frank. — 9 years ago
This was such a wonderful surprise! Best thing to come out of Vermont since grade A maple syrup! A true sipping gin - absurdly smooth - spice, juniper and honey. This is the Pappy of gin. — 9 years ago
Wow. Amazing with lamb and kale and farro. Leather, dates, juniper. — 10 years ago
Poli Miele honey grappa. Hints of juniper and mint, with delicat honey finish. — 11 years ago

Fresh and clean. Nice offer on #qantas first class domestic — 7 years ago
Transparent ruby; light-footed, mineral, ethereal, blackthorn and some juniper, dry strawberries; good depth and delineation; medium weight with silky and smooth tannins, great structure and acidity; on the lighter side of the mood; mineral fruity finish — 8 years ago
This is a lovely drink on the rocks or as a gin tonic. I wouldn't suggest it as a martini. The initial hit of Elderflower and cardamom don't feel right to me that way though it finishes of spice and juniper. — 8 years ago
A rare night off to myself. 🍺🍳 — 8 years ago
Hopped, but not bitterly so. Ginger, grapefruit pith, lime zest, juniper. — 9 years ago
This gin is now my de facto martini gin. Pristine and bright, with juniper, citrus and herbals giving it some bling. — 9 years ago
Bright berry and juniper boughs, excellent acid and mineral earthiness. — 10 years ago
A lovely smooth light Tempranillo. Blackberry spicey smooth. — 10 years ago
Very nice in the low juniper / exotic style. — 11 years ago
So good! It's like Christmas in a bottle. Juniper, floral, Douglas fir, bright, light. Refreshing for summer and woodsy for winter. — 11 years ago

Cinnamon attack, fine grained tannin. Lucious oak is robust at first and lingers. Juniper berry, thyme, Asian pear appears after 90 mins. After 2 hours in the decanter bright cherry gives way to goji berry, mid palate while showing good weight. Oak tannin finding its place while oak flavor continues to linger at lower intensity. Not bad for such a soft vintage at 7 years! — 7 years ago
