A surprise wine this over delivered as well. Smith was the wine maker at la jota but these wines have more finesse and depth than you would expect. After two hours this wine was glorious with mushroom and forest floor notes. Wow what a wine. — 11 years ago

I can only imagine how confusing it must be (if anybody is actually paying attention to my scribblings on this app) to "read" my palate.

Often wines to me are either too big/bold and other times too lean or lacking identity.

This specific wine found me wishing for more stuffing and "flabbiness" (from riper fruit) as I think Syrah is a varietal that lends itself to a style with some funk, slight RS, higher alc. and some "wild" aromas.

This wine is like that straight-A's student in your class that didn't stay for beers/cigarettes in the gym locker after PE.

Had this gem at a big PE tasting in NYC. Deep red and gentle light aromas of fruit and perfumed and herb spices. A blend of 75% Cab Sauvignon, 15% Cab Franc, 5% Merlot, & 5% Petite Verdot. Rich Forman had his 45th harvest in 2011, his son Toby helps him run this family winery. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with an underlying sweetness with herb spice, rich and full of tastes. Fine layered tannins opening up the quality of this wine.
