Began in 1886, when Josephine Marlin Tychson became the first woman to operate a winery in CA and this site where Josephine's winery once stood is now known as Freemark Abbey. Aromas of crisp ripe fruit with scents of oak, spice and floral. On the palate apple, peach and honey flavors with lemon notes, vanilla and sweet oak wrapped in tangy acidity. Lingering finish ending with a toasty character. Nice value. — 7 years ago

This is Cuvée Josephine (despite asking, Delectable incapable of changing the description). Dark and thick style, slightly oxidised now as you'd expect giving lovely deep nose and mouth. Drink with food - was equally lovely with foie and Apple tart. — 10 years ago
More restrained and refined that his sister Josephine — 7 years ago
45+ minutes open in the bottle. Dark cherry color. Nose filled with black cherry, tobacco, and subtle French terroir. Cherry, caramel, and tar on the palate. Tastes like candy! Lacks power and tannins as the Merlot dominates. Very long finish. Very similar to the 2005 Chateau Dassault but twice the price. Definitely drink sooner rather than later. Unfortunately I just bought 2 bottles of the 2000 and am concerned, especially since 2005 was such an awesome vintage. — 7 years ago
