Borne of Fire

The Burn Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

I think this is organic or unoaked . It was a bit unusual for a cab. Not sure what critics see in this wine to give a 96 rating.. — 6 years ago

En Chamberlin Vineyard Syrah 2011

The 2011 ‘En Chamberlin’ Syrah by Cayuse is stunning at this age. Gorgeous dark fruits connect with wet rocks and charcuterie and Mandarin orange rind aromatics, which all come together in the glass. The silky texture borders ethereal as gorgeous flavors of black cherry cough syrup, wet rocks, umami, salted meats, black tea and blood orange flavors continue to impress. This remarkable Syrah is a sensational wine made by superstar vigneron Christophe Baron. — 7 years ago

A baby - but deeply extracted inky purple - smooth tannins and stewed jammy fruit. I think this is built for the long haul. French oak w intense malo secondary aromas of cream — 7 years ago

Grand Estates Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Medium purple color with a nose of blackberries, vanilla, and oak. A simple straightforward wine that performs well on the one dimension it is playing. Medium bodied, well balanced, with a good finish. Picked up at a warehouse club for $7, but drinks like $15. — 8 years ago

Doubleback

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

A fabulous surprise in a bottle from Walla Walla. My boyfriend bought this on a whim and we opened the first of the bottles tonight. Decanted for about an hour and..... What a delight of a cab! Gorgeous, deep color.... Luscious fruit on the nose... Topped only by a complex mouthful of blackberry, earth and a touch of spice. Took me a while to sip through my glass as the enjoyable finish lingered!!! 😊😊 — 9 years ago

Truth be told the GF found this in my cellar and in usual treasure trove fashion picked it out with no knowledge of what it was...looked it up in my records and said "wow you know how to pick'em"! As I checked cost and reviews...well I guess we both know how to pick them!

Charles Smith

Royal City Washington Syrah 2006

A dense glass-staining purple, the '06 Charles Smith Syrah 'Royal City' is a monumental wine. Big, pungent aromas of game, truffles, black olives and dried fruits exploded from the glass. Complex, but still seamlessly balanced. The tastes stayed on the palate for a seemingly infinite length of time. Simply wonderful! — 12 years ago

Southern Blend Washington State Grenache Blend 2014

Starting to soften just slightly and drinks well now with a short decant. Bright red fruits from the grenache, some darker and more savory elements from the mourvedre and just a touch of syrah which I can’t pick out on the palate but makes for a nice bouquet. — 7 years ago

@Shay A Same here. I’ve only had it 2-3 times and each one of those times I’ve looked at the label and found myself surprised all over again that it’s not Napa. It’s a solid pick.

Chateau Ste. Michelle & Dr. Loosen

Eroica Columbia Valley Riesling 2013

Right on the money with this Riesling! Straw in color and star bright. Nose was filled with lemon-lime, honeydew, Granny Smith apples, wild honey, citrus blossom, ginger, and new plastic pool toy aromas. The palate was extremely well balanced and the acidity was high and puckering. The tart lemon and lime flavors held through the finish. The finish was surprisingly long, and it was a nice medium-minus body. This Riesling provides a solid compliment to spicy sushi and spicy foods. It holds up strong and has a lot of backbone. All in all, this is your Riesling if you are looking for a refreshing, acidic, dry breath of fresh air. Instant favorite of mine! Washington dry Rieslings are spectacular. Cheers! — 9 years ago

Sleight Of Hand Cellars

The Conjurer Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Somm David T
9.3

Yup...that's Neil Patrick Harris on their Label. Sleight of Hand Cellars got involved in a charity that NPH was apart. They got to talking and found he not only had a love of Magic, but wine as well. The relationship evolved well enough, they asked him if he would be on one of their labels and Neil agreed. The "Sleight of Hand Cellars" label has been seen a few times on "How I Met Your Mother." NPH is also is a club member. The Conjurer is blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and a splash of Petit Verdot from the Columbia Valley. Nice, fresh nose of; ripe dark currants, blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, black raspberries, black licorice, dark chocolate, soft spice, wood shavings and fresh dark florals. The palate is M+ body & soft M+ tannins with a thick, round mouthfeel. Dark spice, eucalyptus, mint, herb notes, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, chocolate, caramel apple, black licorice, crushed rocks, soft leather, nice, round, acidity and a very well polish finish. This is very easy to drink young and will cellar 10 years. — 8 years ago
