Starting to soften just slightly and drinks well now with a short decant. Bright red fruits from the grenache, some darker and more savory elements from the mourvedre and just a touch of syrah which I can’t pick out on the palate but makes for a nice bouquet. — 6 years ago
Oh my! I saved several of these to reach 2019. Well worth it! The fullness and flavors are very very nice. I love the extreme cedar and vanilla. Well worth the wait. — 7 years ago
Medium purple color with a nose of blackberries, vanilla, and oak. A simple straightforward wine that performs well on the one dimension it is playing. Medium bodied, well balanced, with a good finish. Picked up at a warehouse club for $7, but drinks like $15. — 8 years ago
Wow. Pale golden color with mild grapes on the nose. Mouth is sweet with hints of citrus and dare I say apple?! Wow — 8 years ago
Wow, I wasn't expecting this 05 to be still rocking. Tons of fruit and vanilla, loaded with chocolate and coffee. Aged perfectly. 93 pts ! Great job

Full of body and flavor for the price. Great Friday night steak wine! — 10 years ago
A dense glass-staining purple, the '06 Charles Smith Syrah 'Royal City' is a monumental wine. Big, pungent aromas of game, truffles, black olives and dried fruits exploded from the glass. Complex, but still seamlessly balanced. The tastes stayed on the palate for a seemingly infinite length of time. Simply wonderful! — 12 years ago
Bought six each of the ‘99 Walla Walla and ‘03 En Chamberlain at auction a few years ago. The WW has seriously over-performed, while the EC’s seemed overripe and perhaps even slightly cooked...until bottle five. Pulled this bottle with the expectation of tasting and perhaps dumping and moving on. Cork was pristine and first sniff stopped me in my tracks. Everything I had hoped for in previous bottles was here- mild to moderate Cayuse funk of wet fur, sumptuous dark fruit, and a nice minerality. Beautiful Syrah. Fingers crossed for bottle six. — 6 years ago
Layered, a surprising tasty. Best thing I’ve had out of WA! — 8 years ago
Yup...that's Neil Patrick Harris on their Label. Sleight of Hand Cellars got involved in a charity that NPH was apart. They got to talking and found he not only had a love of Magic, but wine as well. The relationship evolved well enough, they asked him if he would be on one of their labels and Neil agreed. The "Sleight of Hand Cellars" label has been seen a few times on "How I Met Your Mother." NPH is also is a club member. The Conjurer is blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and a splash of Petit Verdot from the Columbia Valley. Nice, fresh nose of; ripe dark currants, blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, black raspberries, black licorice, dark chocolate, soft spice, wood shavings and fresh dark florals. The palate is M+ body & soft M+ tannins with a thick, round mouthfeel. Dark spice, eucalyptus, mint, herb notes, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, chocolate, caramel apple, black licorice, crushed rocks, soft leather, nice, round, acidity and a very well polish finish. This is very easy to drink young and will cellar 10 years. — 8 years ago
Such good balance. Had 9 wines rated 96+ and it was the best of the night. Superstar — 9 years ago
Right on the money with this Riesling! Straw in color and star bright. Nose was filled with lemon-lime, honeydew, Granny Smith apples, wild honey, citrus blossom, ginger, and new plastic pool toy aromas. The palate was extremely well balanced and the acidity was high and puckering. The tart lemon and lime flavors held through the finish. The finish was surprisingly long, and it was a nice medium-minus body. This Riesling provides a solid compliment to spicy sushi and spicy foods. It holds up strong and has a lot of backbone. All in all, this is your Riesling if you are looking for a refreshing, acidic, dry breath of fresh air. Instant favorite of mine! Washington dry Rieslings are spectacular. Cheers! — 9 years ago
Big tannins and big taste while still being easy to drink. One of Matthews' best! — 10 years ago
Great nose of WW cab - currant and graham cracker — 12 years ago
One of my faves. I ordered two half bottles - imagine my delight when I received two full bottles at the half bottle price. — 12 years ago
Cayuse was, for an 🇺🇸 Syrah, subtle and Old-worldish. Serious stank of barnyard and sweaty undergrowth, but after an hr, this opened up and smoothed out. Smoked meat, iron, beef blood. Green tapenade. Some Asian spice. Tangy but silky red fruit. Felt more Hermitage than WA. Wonderful. — 5 years ago
Really enjoyable white wine. Crisp, lots of body with touch of honeysuckle — 7 years ago
