Novelty Hill and Januik share wineries out of Woodinville, WA. Both wineries are managed by Mike Januik and specialize in premium varietal clones. The Columbia Valley AVA is the largest AVA in Washington State. Even though Washington is much further north than California, the peak ripening in most grapes occurs slightly later than CA. This one is a kitchen sink wine, that is predominately Merlot (59%) but also contains Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, Sangiovese, and Mourvèdre. Someone must have thought this one was past its prime, but I feel like the drinkability continues - picked up at Total Wine. ~$17 | #noveltyhill #columbiavalley #totalwine
On the eyes: Deep rusty red, bright and clear, med+ stain, med+ tears, no gas/floc.
On the nose: Funky stewed blueberry, black cherry, raspberry, with a hint of hay, and earthy mustiness. Med+ alcohol.
On the tongue: Med+ acid, med tannin, med+ alcohol, med+ body. Stewed black cherry and raspberry, raisin, white pepper, hint of spice, licorice, and woodsy finish. Tart on the way down, nice long finish. — 8 years ago
Another good wine from a good producer. A solid performer in the NH line from Januik. — 10 years ago
Fresh peach apple blossom sweet and seductive. Sweet but has nice freshness and pretty orange zest and hibiscus perfume notes on the finish. A few things unique here They can also heat the tanks in addition to cooling them this helps them start the fermentation quickly. They also have fresh airflow brought in, to keep mold out, co2 sensors and they can heat the cellar in winter to keep it 55 degrees to keep the wines Brett free. The take chlorine out of the water also to eliminate tca — 11 years ago
Matt really likes. Dry, tannic, still light on the palette, so not as robust or rounded as a cab, but some similarities. Malbecs are Leigh's go to steak wine. — 7 years ago

Pretty good! Good balance of bitterness and sweetness! I bought this one for my Dad from a winery Mrs. Webb is a member of out in Woodinville. — 10 years ago
Less than 30 wineries when he started now there are 800. Fresh peach and apple red delicious cherry and a nice touch of mineral. Likeniting into a fresh peach a touch if sweetness but Nicely balanced acidity leaving the tongue salivating for food. Tongue tingly minerality. Finish 35+ very good+ — 11 years ago
Nicely balanced not too big but still good fruit. A but of a watery finish. — 7 years ago
Better than expected. Extremely smooth. Tannins fully resolved and the fruit, spice, and oak are all fully integrated. There's a really cool choclateness prevalent from sniff to swig. Another winner in the QPR department. — 7 years ago
Drinking nice right now and well beyond it price point — 8 years ago
Both Ken and I liked — 10 years ago
All red mountain fruit lovely intensity and elegant bouquet a bit of cf and merlot in the blend both red and black berry fruit with pretty floral notes with dark chocolate and sweet tobacco spice. Very lush and forward fruit here with a nice freshness not a big wine in color or size but had lots of nuance fresh earth and light spice notes this wine needs a bit of time but has all the right pieces in place. Finish 45+. Excellent milk chocolate notes — 10 years ago
