Bone Rock James Berry Vineyard Syrah Grenache

Crazy awesome. Tons of black pepper, smoke, tobacco and bacon fat. Luscious dark fruits. Very fruit forward palate. Waaaaaay too young. — 11 years ago

La Pialade de Rayas Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend 2008

Cherry-tobacco. Very aromatic, light body, high acidity, very focused-expressive. Pepper in palate: warm but not hot. — 12 years ago

Mulling spice and plums on the start with black pepper and fresh cut flowers. This is drinking beautifully now but has structure to support it for years to come — 12 years ago

Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend

Yuko bought this at Costco for about $16. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, purple color, clear rim to medium core. Nose is clean, medium intensity, developing, with aromas of blackberries, pepper, and vanilla. Palate is dry, medium acidity, tannins and alcohol; medium body & flavor intensity; flavors of blackberry, black cherry, vanilla and pepper; very well-balanced with a firm tannic texture and a medium finish. Quality is good; can drink now but has potential for aging until 2016. I like it! A very nice wine that punches a few pound above its weight. Great with beef filet with bacon (but then what isn't?), and dishes that incorporate umami flavors. — 13 years ago

2008. Very good for the price. Everything I look for in a Syrah - berries, pepper, spice, and a little gaminess. — 11 years ago

Not overly jammy for paso which was a nice change of pace. Very indicative of copains winemaking style.
