Nose: smoked meat, black cherry, wet leaves and leather, dried fruit (prune) cloves, liquorice and dark choc. Soft ripe tannins. Full body. Flavours of strawberry jam and meat. Oak, rubber and leather. I could go on and on but drink this wine!! — 9 years ago
Wow, Wow, Wow! I can picture the cherry pie I had yesterday as I smell this wine in my glass. I almost feel like I need a fork! Great aromas of cherry pie and spice on the nose followed by really great tastes of dark fruit, mocha and grape jam. Tannins are very apparent but not overpowering. Unfiltered & unfined organic wine w/ pronounced complex aromas of Eastern sweet spices, tertiary: mushrooms, nail polish. Strawberry jam, pomegranates on the palate. Light w/ cleansing acidity & great length. Grand vin of Chateau Musar is blend of CabS, Carignan & Cinsault from Bekaa Valley. 7 yrs of making: lengthy fermentation in cement vats @<30°C, 1 yr in French barrels, then blended & placed for 1 yr back in cement vats, followed by 4 yrs of bottle maturation in estate’s stone cellars.
