Comes from Maule, grown at 630 feet and made from a blend of 50% Carménère, 25% Carignan and 25% Pais. The vines have an average of 45 years. It spent 4 months in concrete. On the nose; slightly floral fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, strawberries and bright cherries. The palate is ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, strawberries and bright cherries. Brioche, creme brûlée aromas along with complex funky aromas, reminiscent of truffle, that open up to stone fruit and mineral notes (slightly Laval like, though more restraint) On the palate creamy with fine bubbles and more stone fruit and mineral notes, and a really great finish. — 8 years ago

Magnum 1997 Dal Forno Romano Amarone dell Valpolicella. Drank at Reddwood lunch w B&K K, J&L B, and M&R H. Third of the red lineup. Neither K nor I had tasted this before and it was delicious. Enormous and inky. It was just massive both in flavor and how it coated the mouth. Slight sweetness. Very cool to try! — 9 years ago

1994 Screaming Eagle. Dinner w J&L B and D&M H while staying with D&M in Santa Ynez. Opened and waited about an hour. Decanted right before serving. Tons of jammy dark fruit. Opened more in the glass. JB mentioned full palate and balance. Great finish. Preferred this to ‘91 Dominus once this opened up. — 5 years ago
