Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with farming and winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Met Joe several times. Deep Ruby with red berry fruit aromas and sweet spice notes. On the palate flavors of raspberry and ripe blackberry with sweet oak, cacao and espresso notes. Soft fine tannins perfect acidity and balance long finish ending with mineral character. Nice! A Fav! — 6 years ago
A seriously mysterious wine - idiosyncratically traditional, traditionally idiosyncratic. Secondary and tertiary aromas shine, but there’s still plenty of fruit - apricot, nectarine. Smoke, Stone. Wow. — 8 years ago
Rochioli West Block might be my favorite. 2008 is also drinking very well right now. Bittersweet that this is our last meal at Scopa. It's been a delicious run. 😢😋 — 9 years ago
Still shows deep fruit. Blueberry and such. Medium tannins, juicy finish. Lovely — 10 years ago
Love it. Nice vanilla on nose with green apple backed up with well balanced acidity and medium + body. Sense of french oak after acidity is very seductive. Keep thinking of this baby — 10 years ago
A good prosecco. Nice and bubbly and easy to find. — 10 years ago
I don't normally drink whites but this is pretty damn good. — 11 years ago
This is the best wine my grandfathers made. Even got a picture of him drinking it. This Syrah is huge in body and spicy like no other. Intense black peppercorn on the nose, lush creamy berry up front. Finishes again peppercorn spice. This is as good as it gets. — 12 years ago
Full flavour of honey and figs. Mellow, but rich. Smooth and complex. Would like more of a finish. — 6 years ago
Impressive! So satisfying on a@hit summer evening. Pear, lemon, peach, just off dry, and the perfect bubbles. — 6 years ago
Very nice, received as a gift. Would buy — 7 years ago
Ruby color with aromas of raspberry and strawberry. Medium acidity and low tannin. Dry. Medium finish of tart raspberry. Good starter or served with something like salmon or greens. Wouldn't play to well with a more meaty entre. Price is right under $20 but we could probably do better. — 9 years ago
Becoming one of my fav NV as of late. Balanced and pure with a mix of all things great Champagne has to offer. Deliciousness that will smoke almost anything at this price point. — 9 years ago
It was a wonderful bottle. We had it on a tasting and it was a great deal for the price. Golden apple and pear notes with a hint of Quince and a light biscuit nose. Gorgeous and lovely. — 10 years ago
Rich and Full bodied. Let it breathe a bit. — 13 years ago
A beautiful nose of soft red fruits, some spice, soulful plummy stuff. Very burgundinian but the plushness of US Pinot. On the palate this has great poise. Light but intense this has lovely fresh fruit and some gnarly wild herbs with underlying acidity and good length. Apparently the ‘j’ refers to Jayer cuttings being the source of the Pinot. If so, that would go some way toward explaining why this is so aromatic and balanced. Excellent — 7 years ago
Smakar Frankrike och svunnen tid. Fransk ek med vanilj och mums. Mild fruktighet. — 8 years ago
First Port in a loooong time. Delicious. Enjoyed with chocolate cream cake. Young ruby was easy to drink. Fruity prune, cherry, and raisin. — 9 years ago
Nose of slightly syrupy and jammy blue fruits of; olallieberries, blueberries, huckleberries, black raspberries, blackberries, spiced plums, dark cherries, dark cherry cola, expresso roast, dried dark flowers, spice, cinnamon & anise, dry stems and leather. On the palate, full bodied, round, juicy with fine powdery tannins and darkly elegant. Fruits, of; blueberries, olallieberries, black raspberries, blackberries, plums, dark cherries, cinnamon, nutmeg. mocha powder, light vanillin, anise, espresso roast, black tea, soft leather, finely dry crushed rock powder, graphite, underbrush, poached strawberries hit the long palate set, dark rich earth, dry red flowers, liquid violets and notes of tarriness. The finish is nice resolved dark tannins, great balance of fruit & earth, solid structure, nice tension, rich, full elegance and perfect acidity that rains over the palate. Lail owns and uses fruit from two estate vineyards; the Totem Vineyard in Yountville; which is part of the original Inglenook vineyard estate. This vineyard is named after a Totem pole that was the founder of Inglenook Winery, Gustav Niebaum. Their Mole Hill vineyard is located high on the slopes of Howell Mountain at about 1600 feet. Still has 8-10 years of good life ahead of it. Photos of the Lail Vineyards and small estate building without a tasting room. — 9 years ago

Pulled from the wine fridge and enjoyed this with fresh Salmon.
Very berry on the palate but not jammy.
Well rounded smoooth finish with barely a hint of tannin. Wonderful! — 10 years ago
Can't go wrong with a Graham 20 year old port! — 11 years ago
Light and refreshing. Fruity flavors with slight vanilla undertones. Very crisp, but has a slight bite in the aftertaste. Would be great with mussels, crab, or a sharp cheese platter. — 11 years ago

Smooth and balanced with a long finish. Orange peel and woody notes. Hint of nuts and spice. Great with fruity, creamy desserts. — 6 years ago
