2011 vintage. At Lima. Giovanni Rosso's first vintage of the classic cru, Vigna Rionda. Medium ruby - lovely shiny wine. On the nose, closed at first - due to its youth - but with air, spectacular. Minty herb, liquorice, sour black cherry, smoke, violets and tar. Very complex. On the palate, silky smooth - high tannin but ripe and luscious. Medium plus alcohol. Full concentration and high acidity. Deep flavours here. This is going to be a blockbuster of a wine with a long future. Spectacular Barolo. Drink 2023-2043 (although, to be fair, drinks really well now). — 8 years ago

Strong aroma, with blackberry center stage and cherry on a supporting role, and a light scent of vanilla on the second swirl. The aromas don't translate strongly to the taste. You can taste the red fruits, though it requires some concentration. The tannins are well balanced and there's a slight acidity on the finish, with a slightly bitter and acidic finish. — 9 years ago

A star grape variety of Argentina, with clear, pale, ruby colour. It has clean and pronounced intensity notes of back pepper and spices. With dry, medium tannin and acidity. The long finish could let you enjoy the liquorice, plum and dark chocolate flavours. After 12 months maturation in 50% American & 50% French oak barrels, it presents in front of us. Very good one to drink now, but has the potential to be an outstanding one when keep for 8-10 years after released. Vintage 2012, price £18.65. — 10 years ago
