Big fruity Grenache and earthy, brambles balanced with soft tannins from the age. Magnum age showed perfectly, note to self: 5 years for Quivira/Hugh Chappelle GSM. — 6 years ago
Hugh with a hint of wood. Complex with an outstanding finish. — 7 years ago

Jack and Jamie Davies revived the historic vineyards and cellars in 1965, with a mission to produce California's first world-class sparkling wines. Today, led by their son Hugh, continues with this commitment to quality. A 100% Chardonnay, straw yellow with aromas of stone and citrus fruits, with floral scents. A terrific sparkler shows crisp green apple, orange and grapefruit zest. A medium-bodied, wine with a great mousse, tiny bubbles and nice length on the finish ending with some crisp mineral notes. — 8 years ago

Nice lifted fruit, quite smooth. — 6 years ago
So restrained and subtle. My first Merry E, and I’m impressed. Lovely perfumed nose, exhibiting crushed violets. Soft entry on the palate. Resolved tannins and neutral acidity. Nice cola and cherry notes finish what is and excellent example.
At dinner with DL peeps Robert, Hugh and his wife - great times! Thanks for sharing, boys. — 6 years ago
2014 Forey Vosne-Romanee and The Now Now. This is the Gorillaz record I was waiting for...I’m always waiting for wine like this. @Hugh O'Riordan - turntable is never broken 😀 — 6 years ago
Lovely leafy notes with notes of camphor in this Cabernet dominant red blend. The palate shows good sweet. berry fruit power with the Cabernet fleshed out with Syrah Merlot and Malbec. A note of milk chocolate. Overall a very satisfying rich Red similar to the richness you get in Reds from neighbouring Washington State. A gift from a girl friend of my son Hugh when she visited us in Australia- both of them Alumni of University of Idaho in Moscow. — 7 years ago
Second time around in just as many nights. Allowing nearly 10 hours to open up brings oyr a beautiful sweet raspberry coulis like palate which I'm seriously enjoying. Tannins have settled too. — 8 years ago
Hugh tone and light bodied. Medium finish. Closed off? Gordons. — 8 years ago
I enjoyed this one... — 8 years ago
Flint, with lemons and mild passion fruit on the nose. Hugh acidity and freshness with vanilla supporting the same flavours in the mouth with a touch of tangerine. Tremendous length. Judicious oak. Delicious. — 8 years ago
Excellent wine as gift from Hugh & Lizzie Stafford-Smith — 9 years ago
Ok Wine of the Night!!! You should remember this @Hugh O'Riordan — 6 years ago
So fresh you would not know it was a 1995 but disgorged in January 2014. Lemon minerality and hints of stone fruit and touch of pineapple. A fine persistent bead. The perfect balance of complexity and freshness. When I first tried this I thought it was rich enough to have a % of Pinot Noir but it is a Blanc des Blancs. Amazingly still available because they “made shitloads of it” said Stephen Leroux. A few hours later a honeyed nuance. Celebrating my 2000th Note on Delectable. I would like to congratulate Delectable for creating such an enjoyable and useable App. I can see what my American and European friends are drinking and try to purchase same. Also celebrating my son Hugh’s 31 st Birthday in New York. If anyone is looking for office space in Manhattan contact Hugh at CBRE. — 6 years ago
Alright, I see you Kusuda. I maybe misjudged you after having your Riesling.
Tasted blind. Nose is like an intense/extreme new wave/cool climate Syrah. So Hugh toned I almost second-guess calling it Syrah. There is a menthol character that made me think Australia. Imagine a dish at a fancy modernist reataurant: deconstructed Syrah essence(hold the foam). Super delineated and pristine fruit, pepper, and flowers(so many flowers)beyond the typical violet.
When I remembered to taste the wine, I found a very good palate. Good in a way that was a bit of a let down after the excitement provided by the nose, but objectively it's great. Fresh, very soft tannin structure, good acid.
Would drink again when someone buys it for me. — 8 years ago
A lovely, drinkable cab from Hugh Davies! Got this in our Schramsburg wine club, no clue the cost, but a red I would love to drink again. Cherry, woodsy, mature, not acidic with a lovely finish. — 8 years ago
