Great comp with'95 Nuits Lescure with RC 7/20/16. Nose had some kind of minty and earthy note that stood out but RC doesn't feel it. Palate also had notes that I feel are complex and earthy. Carried through to finish. Yum. RC says this is elegance. — 9 years ago

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Pinot Noir 1969

1969: The wine was clear when placed on the table, yet arrived back from opening and decanting (ahem) unfortunately cloudy (note to Somm's). Very fresh nose, while not withholding maturity. Vibrantly nervy and spicy entry, and lively on the palate. Meaty, chewy, table chatter suggested beet root, and positive comment regarding being herbaceous. Held up well throughout, should any bottles still be laying about for ready money. Had the same wine from same cellar 3 years ago with equally happy results. — 10 years ago

Hospices de Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

Silky palate with cherry, mushroom, and forest floor up front and floral, tobacco, and cooling menthe notes behind. Brooding in youth, this is one for the cellar. Check back in 5-10 years — 10 years ago

Les Murgers Nuits St. Georges Cuvée Guyard de Chaugey Pinot Noir 1999

This is a very special wine for me. Chose the barrels at the Hospice in 2000 and won the lot in the auction with an old, dear friend William Brown. We swapped bottles as half were bottled with his name and half for Les Zygomates Paris/Boston for a restaurant I got to build with chef Ian Just. Bill (William) was instrumental in helping us open the Boston les Zygomates. It is also from my son Isaac's birth year. And it is drinking amazingly well, a little funk, soft red fruit, ripe plum and silky tannins. Thanks to my old ffriend and negociant Alex Gambal for "raising" the wine with such skill! — 9 years ago

Domaine Moillard

Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1966

#birthyear murky brickish red. Still plenty of red and cherry fruit with some interesting spice. On the downward path but a few pleasant beverage. I think Dujac buys this RSV land later on. — 9 years ago

Harry, Domaine Dujac's RSV holding is actually owned by Dr. Wilf Jaeger, and Dujac farms, vinifies, raises, & bottles under the Domaine. Interesting if same parcel.

Interesting. I'm reading 'Pearl of the Cote' right now. If I understand correctly. Part of Moillard RSV was sold to Arnoux and Cathiard in 1984. Which Cathiard then sold part back to Moillard. Then there is the 2005 sale which splits up the Moillard (Charles Thomas) purchase between de Montille and Dujac (Jaeger leaseback).
