I still can't believe I found this for $30 earlier this year. What a steal! Compared to the 2006 Beronia Gran Reserva I had alongside it, the nose has a lighter quality that I call aloe Vera because it's the closest thing I could think of. The nose is airy and cool, with hints of sea air that transport you to the Spanish coast. The palate is even more complex, which just goes to show what more age can do for rioja. I actually taste MORE tannins in this than the 2006, which blows my mind and makes me more interested in the region. Just... just a fantastic wine from a very, very good winery. Full bodied barbera cab blend. Likely more Cabernet than barbera. Slightly tannic but not overwhelming. 2010 was a great year. Can go another 5 years but don't risk going further. Paired with porchetta, sautéed spinach and aged provolone ravioli by Vera Pasta with sweet tomato gravy. Was great upon opening and held steady throughout.
