2016 Sami-Odi ‘Hoffmann Dallwitz’ Syrah. 8 hour decant. Massive nose. Explosive mid-palate. Phenomenally silky texture. Smooth tannins. Stop watch still running on the finish. Just beautiful! And much more open for business than I expected. @Fraser McKinley has it goin on! Label: ‘Our first ten years’ – Painted by Andrea McKinley 1980, Fraser McKinley 1984-1988, Tui McKinley 2014-2016, Mahé & Ribo McKinley 2017. — 7 years ago
The Hoffman was nearly the wine of the tasting. Warm fruits; of blue & blackberries slowly lift out of the glass with supple soft spices. It was a hard call to say, was it warm fruit pie or was it more like pudding? I'd say both. The spices in this wine lifted off your palate like warm sun on ground water creating rising steam. You cannot only sense it, you can see them as you sip it. Blackberries, blueberries, black plum, rhubarb, baked cranberries & strawberries follow, black licorice, used leather, dry stems, underbrush, crushed rocks, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, Christmas cake and used coffee grounds. Perfect harmony in body, texture. length, balance, acidity and finish. 5 years in oak. — 8 years ago

Bill's in town, so why not kill a Sami-Odi??? He opened the Greenock Creek 02 Seven Acre, so why not this one? This wine has an intoxicating nose like the Sami-Odi Hoffman 0.534 Syrah consumed a few months before. This is definitely a "little wine" to this HD Syrah. Displaying just as much lusciousness in the nose. One person said "I don't know what this is, but I can smell this in the glass for the rest of the night and I would be satisfied." Mission accomplished! The entry is dark, black fruit and a ton of it. Dark, black, condense, full bodied, although the finish seems to be a bit shorter than the Hoffman Dallwitz. Multi-vintage wine of 2012, 15, 16, 17 Syrah. Delicious. Still has 10 years left. — 7 years ago
2008 Sami-Odi 'Hoffmann Dallwitz' MCMXII Syrah
Sourced from 94 vines, planted between 1888 & 1912.
Harvested 14th March 2008.
Yields of 32 hectolitres per hectare.
388 Bottles filled.
Label: ‘Villie-Morgon’ postcard;
Image sourced Paris 2008. A special treat from my friends @chuck_gudas in conspiracy with @fraser_mckinley, a rare treat of an early Sami-Odi offering. We decanted this wine for several hours, and then re-visited 24 hours later, and the wine continued to evolve and improve. Explosive nose of freshly baked cherry pie. More bright red fruits on the palate with a brambley undertone, and soft silky tannins. Wonderful mouth feel with a long, lingering finish. Thank you Chuck and Fraser! — 8 years ago
Thank you for sharing this delightful Sauvignon Blanc with me @Grace Hoffman I love the acidity. Wish I had a huge salad or a nice cut of salmon right now.... beautifully tropical. — 8 years ago

This is a solid wine from a producer few have heard of. Pete is making some unique wines and I am a fan. Solid structure, ample acidity and not an punch you in the face with extraction and alcohol wine. Could use a little cellar time but the tannins are soft now. — 8 years ago
This is a partnership with Adrian Hoffman. This wine creates a body glow like I've not experienced. The mouth entry just is an OMG long moment. The lush fruits explode and layer over your palate. Ripe, lush, fruits of; blueberries, turning dark cassis, black plum, blackberries, warm soft spices; Clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & hints of vanilla, light baking spices, black tea, plum cake, light tarry notes. Then, the lighter red fruits unfold as it sits on the palate. Perfect wine harmony!!! 4 years in oak. — 8 years ago
I had the blanc de blanc. Very pleasing freshness and persistence. This is seriously well made and refined. A worthy contender in the burgeoning English sparkling wine scene. — 9 years ago
Lots of dried herb notes, this wine is passed its prime, but compelling nonetheless, fun birth year wine exercise. — 10 years ago
2010. Enjoyed with my good friend Geoff Hoffman. Nice on the palate. — 10 years ago
