Deep ruby with hint of garnet. Nose is clean big blackberry dark plum current flinty. Med acid med tannin med to high body. Big bold blueberry, blackberry current tobacco flint minerality bordering on some mint. Signature white pepper sting afterwards. Very good. Could cellar for another seven years but good now after seven. — 8 years ago
Back in the early 90s Moss Wood used to make this standard Cab and also a Reserve which spent an extra year in French barriques. This was the standard and was magnificent. Nose of cedar, black currant and herbs. Brilliant mature Cabernet. Could have easily been a high ranked left bank classed growth. This is why one cellars wine. — 9 years ago
Jim G purchase. High octane and needs dilution by several drops of water. Then opens up and complex. — 9 years ago
Finally in the US - very sexy new project in Millahue - just west of Apalta - Pacific freshness - Chilean weight and perfectly balanced ripeness - high class tannins and a seamless demi-glace texture - elegance to spare - thank you Steve Olson for the experience!! — 10 years ago
A discreet Chardonnay, slippery texture, soft fruit, high acid and sublime mouthfeel. A shift in style from the '10 vintage onwards, '11 and '12 also looking very good. — 11 years ago
Amazing Brew, Excellent example of a truly great west coast IPA, this is the reason beer lovers from other countries are seeking out these fine brews, Germany was always the true brew masters, but even Germans are giving high praises to brew like this one, talk to people in the UK and they are blown away my this brew and others from Firestone and Stone, Balast Point, really great to see this happening here in the Great USA, Proud to call this brew as OURS! — 11 years ago
I love Petit Verdot! Nice dark purple color. Very dynamic nose. It's musty, with lots of barnyard odors and hints of Macintosh apples and tomatoes. A little high in OH at 14.7%, but nice fruit, which is on the sweeter side. Surprisingly short finish. Definitely at the tail end of the drinking window. I'd buy more and will! — 7 years ago
Complex flavor, spicy yet smooth — 8 years ago
My first (and only in the UK market). Stunning. Australian, apera cast. Colour & flavour intensity is insane for 3yrs old.
If you enjoy high end Speyside or Japanese whisky as I do....find this. Very special. Fantastic in an old fashioned — 8 years ago
Fresh and lively Tinta Amarela from Estremadura. High elevation keeps the acid bright, foot-trodden and open-top fermentation keeps the fruit sassy. An hour west in Portugal they call this here grape Trincadeira. Definitely bistro-friendly for roasted critters! — 9 years ago
With Ulf & Caroline. Just before starting on the High West. — 9 years ago
Perfect to celebrate my new place. Not strong on the smokey flavor yet bold flavor. My non-scotch drinking friends enjoyed this too. Decent price for an aged high quality bottle — 10 years ago
High power stuff. First batch made completely at their Kentucky distillery. Looking forward to their 4 year. — 11 years ago
Hi quality premix! For a lazy old fart like myself. Now I need to get the same but with barrel aged negronis! — 11 years ago
Smooth, lingering, not sharp at all. — 12 years ago
Citrus and Stonefruit with well balanced high quality French Oak. Probably the best QPR of any Aussie Chardonnay being the 2nd cuvée of the famous Leeuwin Art Series. Going to compare this with the 2015 Louis Jadot Macon Villages. This had more body, more complexity and interest than the Macon. Tasted again 102 weeks later on 21 August 2019 with consistent Notes. — 8 years ago
Classy, high-end chardonnay. Struck matches, precise. Ripe fruit but packed with texture and acidity. Long. Not as big as other M.R wines. — 8 years ago

The one and only, Pliny The Elder, hard to find if you are not here on the west coast, King of the IPA's , is it worth all the hype and trouble, I would sincerely say yes, you are still a beer geek virgin if you have not had this, it is so well balanced with big hops, citrus and tropical notes, truly a remarkable beer, there other beers that come very close to this perfection , but fall just slightly below the high bar this beer has set, I have this on tap at my favorite brewery, if you follow my posts you know where that is, now Pliny The Younger, that is a little more hard to get, you need to buy a ticket for that, after a few times, I got one, will review that one soon, the best way to get this beer outside of the area it is brewed in, Soma, is beer trades with other beer geeks, I will trade this for Hop Slam, Heady Topper, Zombie Dust, those are some of the more popular trades from West Coast to East Coast beer geeks, well worth seeking out, not impossible to get, not like the "Younger" — 10 years ago
Tons of spice and chocolate — 11 years ago

We were in the mood for a Rose, tried several decent yet forgettable rose’s until we stumbled upon this. Tavel is just west of Châteauneuf du Pap and many of the local Provence Rose’s come from this area. It has a very fresh nose and taste. Similar to eating out of a fresh bowl of slightly sweet and tart strawberries and raspberries, mixed in with some cherries, eating your full. Followed by a nice complimentary mineral taste. Enjoyed this a couple of times over the last few nights over cheese boards, carpaccio, fois gras, and on its own. As a side note, upon reflection, I’m learning that I have (for quite some time) given out lower ratings for wines I have really enjoyed secondarily for a fear of missing out on something else that should be rated “x” high score. Instead I have provided a “pseudo” cap of 9.5. From now on, I will do my best to rectify this, and remove the “fomo” handicap. — 7 years ago
