The inky ruby/purple '03 Clarendon Hills Syrah 'Hickinbotham' throws a toxic mix of dark berries, charcoal, candied licorice and raw steak at the nostrils. Super intense flavors of kirsch and espresso precede the heavily extracted and lingering finish. Just a remarkably elegant effort. — 10 years ago
