A less angular Hibiki 12, if that makes sense — 9 years ago

Smooth, typical Japanese hibiki 12 style — 7 years ago
Bought in Niseko Hokkaido in late January 2018. My first purchase of a Japanese Malt Whisky and I was mightily impressed. No small claim from a McDonald who loves Talisker Laphroig and Lagavulin!!! Compared with the Hibiki I bought duty free this Ichiros Malt was more sooty and tarry but ever so smooth. Reminiscent of Drambuie. Orange Peel and damp straw. Big price difference unfortunately. About $100 in Niseko and about $200 to $250 in Australia. — 8 years ago
Golden. Philosophical. — 10 years ago
tough to describe! multi-dimensional. bright. certainly not a boring ho-hum dram. hibiki 12 is a bit anodyne. nikka 12 is not. — 11 years ago
This is not the Yamazaki or the Hibiki but it’s an easy drinking solidly constructed whiskey. More sweet and fruity in style—caramel and toffee covered apple, white raisin, peat and fresh cut flowers. This is the Summer shandy of whiskeys. Light on its feet and super inviting. — 9 years ago

Complexxx tasting notes. The first bite was lite but grew as it hit the back of the tongue and lingered. Tasted plum, sherry cask and hints of vanilla. The complex layers of flavor changed throughout night. EXCELLENT. — 10 years ago

Great example of the light yet full flavored Japanese Whisky. This is a close cousin; I don’t have to search endlessly for Hibiki. — 4 years ago
