Excellent slatey minerality. Sweet red apple. A very Pinot Champs. Palette is full and sweet. Dosage evident. Maybe would integrate a bit more win age. Or just enjoy now. — 8 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Herbert Blomstedt is leading an all MOZART program tonight (Piano Concerto No. 17 in G) with the incredibly talented Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then concluding with MOZART (Symphony No. 41, Jupiter).
Nose is a little tight on this right now, but it is incredibly stoney, like a walk through a stone masons lot and a neighbor two properties down recently mowed the lawn.
The palate is opening, good minerality, light acidity, tropical fruit, yet showing restraint like no other CA Sauvignon Blanc I've ever experienced. Interesting stuff, likely will finish this bottle tomorrow (with updated notes) so that we can see what extended air time reveals... — 7 years ago

Year 2004, now 11 years old and a great pleasure, top example for a German Pinot Noir. Well balanced, intensive fruit, not too heavy, dark. 14 %, but alcohol is not dominating this GG at all. Great fun from the frist drop, no need to decanter. Was very quickly empty, more of this is needed. — 11 years ago

An odd sparkler to say the least. While the disgorgement date is not on the bottle, from Terry Thiese notes this spent somewhere around 5 years on the lees. The appearance is dark, closer in color to a young Burgundy than any sparkling Rose. The nose shows notes of deep earth, black cherries, and yeast. The plate is full-bodied with big, bracing acidity and soft, creamy bubbles. Flavors of macerated cherries and plums lead to dark, earthy flavors, baking spice, touches of oak, and a little funky brioche. The finish shows some dusty tannins along with lingering bright acidity along with lingering tiny bubbles. A very cool food friendly bottle of bubbles. — 7 years ago
