2005 Selection de Grains Nobles from Zind-Humbrecht from the famed Rotenberg Grand Cru. Medium Amber. Marmalade, peach syrup and apricot jam. Nutmeg and caramelised oranges. On the palate, super ripe and lusciously sweet syrup with great acidity and full bodied. Great mid palate allows the acidity to calm the syrup notes. Long long finish. Huge concentration. Apricot dominant. Caramel and hot cream. Carnation milk. Viscous. Wow. Something special. NB: surprised this isn't labelled Quintessence de Grains Nobles given the luscious nature of this wine. — 10 years ago
High body, sweet, herbaceous. — 11 years ago
Seriously, the best Pinot out of Alsace. Stick it in a blind tasting and I bet most Somms would think it was from Rully! — 11 years ago

Acacia + pure, vinous sap + marzipan + electric acidity. Hengst is French for stallion, and this fits the bill. Superior! — 9 years ago
Such a lovely piece from Alsace, minerals, petroleum, green apples... — 9 years ago
Waxy and petrolic, rich texture but without sweetness. Difficult on its own but with lamb curry really stood up. Really interesting wine — 9 years ago
