Rich lemon yellow color and loads of citrus on nose and palate. There is a lively richness to the texture that offsets the high acidity. Green apple, lemon, hawthorn and acacia. Very refreshing. Very active mouse - maybe not quite enough time in cellar to force the bubbles smaller for creamier texture but delightful. Uses all three major Champagne grapes - it has Champagne fruit but not quite the minerality — 8 years ago

WHITE HILLSIDE (Oaked Chardonnay)
Tasted 13/07/2015
Sentient, charming, elegant nectar, aged 8 months in oak.
Pale straw colored. Slim tears in the glass.
Complex delicate nose: Cream Brule, chrysanthemum, mix of roasted chestnuts & peanuts, alycha juice, lime peels, hawthorn blossom, even fresh cucumber with touch of wooden bark.
Refreshing acidity. Splendid balance. Medium body. Vanilla cream, unripe melon, apple/pear sorbet, medlar fruits.
Lovely long finish with catchy cloudberry and grapefruit nuances.
Paring: smoked salmon with seaweed salad. — 9 years ago
Bracing, crisp acidity gives a powerful foundation to this wine. The hint of salinity practically screams "oysters!" while the fine mousse underscores the wine's silky texture. A portion of the Wine was aged in wood but there is no hint of wood beyond the slight bump in density. Citrus, acacia, and hawthorn all contribute to the bouquet and palate. Quite long on the finish. Racy and substantial. — 10 years ago
Baking spice, baked fruit, hawthorn — 10 years ago
2013 vintage. Glorious wine, opens with blackcurrant leaf and hawthorn blossoms before the palate is soaked in lime and chalk minerals. Brilliant length and finesse. One of Sancerres top producers these days. — 11 years ago
An extraordinary bottle that is a near-perfect blanc de blancs. Medium gold in color, the wine has a beautiful mousse even at 25 years of age, with fine bubbles and a tantalizing aroma conveying powerful primary, secondary and tertiary notes. The nose shows fresh and preserved lemon, green and golden apple, acacia, hawthorn, hazelnut, wet stone and flint. On the palate, the wine is dry but has a wonderful medium-bodied richness. There is vibrant, high acidity that gives the wine great energy. Flavors include smoke, flint, wet stone, preserved lemon, green apple, golden apple, dried acacia, hazelnut, and a hint of roasted coffee along with a pleasant saline quality. The wine has a very long finish and is compelling to drink now though it can certainly age for another decade or more. Outstanding. — 6 years ago
Super interesting Langhe Nebbiolo - non traditional bottle shape and made in cement eggs. Super funky aromas on the nose but they blow off after a while. Slight fizziness first in the glass - carbonic maceration? It was a young wine but had some characteristics of age, rich flavor of dried cherries, hawthorn, a hint of meaty savoriness like beef jerky or barbecue. — 6 years ago
Soave often gets a bad reputation but this one is pretty good. The label says elderberry and hawthorn notes. I guess that is the slightly pungent, green nose and taste. It does have some more peach like fruit notes but quite subtle. Dry but not bland or acidic, the texture is quite lush for a light wine. Certainly quite enjoyable and a welcome change of pace for the price range. — 7 years ago

Limited by 6300 bottles: elegant, stylish and slender pink (dry rosé) Flamingo. Fabulous allegory!
Colour of salmony rose, caressing eye.
Aromas of lily, jasmine, wild strawberry, wild cherry, creamy cranberry interlacing each other with light herbacious & grapefuit nuances.
Very well balanced (14% ABV!) palate with crispy acidity, light body and lovely minerality. Soft, bit oily, scented by barberry, red currant, ashberry, hawthorn.
Fresh finish with zesty ashberry bitterness.

Flowery nose - hawthorn and apple blossom? Rich sweetness of fruit on the mid palate. Finishes dry with a long long length. Plenty of acidity to cut through the richness of the duck liver wrapped in bacon that was served with it. Similar to the 2012. — 11 years ago
Well, I am a huge fan of the Cuvées Nature Domaine de la ville de Morges. This chardonnay is I guess slightly macerated and is a pure pleasure. The nose is intense, fruity with a ripe pear, delicate with hawthorn flowers scents and anticipates a mineral character. In the mouth it feels like a broncing horse, dry and nervous, alcoholic, stunning with energy and liveliness. Still well balanced, the old vines bring finesse. I just love this place. — 6 years ago
Medium minus concentration. Fresh and clean sour cherry, raspberry, mint, earl grey tea leaves, chamomile, cherry blossom, hawthorn, crushed stones. Elevated tannins, 14%. Such a uniquely fresh CdP. — 6 years ago
Bracing acidity, green apple, Lemon, wet stone, white flowers (acacia) and hawthorn. Loads of chalky minerality, cleansing acidity; rounds out on a long finish. Needs food to shine its brightest — 7 years ago
This bargain is hauntingly scented with hawthorn and ripe peach that dominate an expansive, waxy, glossy palate. Salty, tangy, piquantly nutty, its impression of peach close to the core and subtle earthiness is characteristically Rheingau. This offers ample refreshment and stimulation. (DS) — 9 years ago
Golden color, caramelized pear, hawthorn. Delicious. Acidity, balances RS — 10 years ago
2014 vintage - quite a nice surprise: wonderful color, rich scents of hawthorn and elderflower, vanilla and spices in the mouth. — 10 years ago
Clear pale ruby with hints of garnet. It gives an elegant shine. Predominately raspberry on the nose lined with leather and grass with hints of smokey tobacco, hawthorn and strawberry. Dry on the palate with medium+ soft acidity, medium alcohol, and low tannin but still gives a nice structural complexity to this medium body wine. More noticeable flavours of smokey oak with hints of raspberry, strawberry, and hawthorn come up and lasts into its medium finish. Very good quality, drink now through 2020. — 11 years ago
Lye Hock Tan
2015 vintage. Opened on 27th April 2020, entering 4th phase of mco. Breathed for 30 to 45 minutes brought out the more floral scent, apple tinge. Easy palate, some light hawthorn and red berries. Like the high tannin. Long finish. — 6 years ago
