2004 Vintage. From Double Magnum. At Harry's Bar. Dark purple hue. On the nose high concentration of stewed black fruits, Black Forest cherries, kirsh liqueur, almond paste. Primary and youthful, but layers of complexity starting to show. Alluring. On the palate, velvety and rich, whilst maintaining class and elegance. Tannins are lush and ripe. Medium plus alcohol, medium acidity and a long finish. This is a big Sass, but none the worse for it. It's perfectly drinkable now but in this format, could last another decade or two as it sheds its puppy fat. Excellent. Drink now until 2035+ — 9 years ago
Krug GC with 2002 base wine from Jero at Harry's Bar for the annual Soprano's dinner. The colour was a gorgeous pale gold. Small persistent bubbles. On the nose, roasted almonds, burned toast, brioche, roast apples - deep and complex. On the palate, perfect blend of high, crisp acidity, medium alcohol and depth of flavour. The toasty brioche dominates the mid palate and leads to a very long finish. This is one of the best young GC's I have had and will drink now until 2036. A — 10 years ago
1991 Ridge Montebello in magnum. At Harry's Bar. Bottle sourced direct from Ridge. Deep ruby hue. Full concentration of ripe dark plums and blackberries, some prune and chocolate and assorted dried fruits. Licorice and menthol. Old oak wood and nutmeg. Still developing. On the palate, medium plus acidity, medium ripe tannins. Medium alcohol. Full concentration and good long finish. Very impressive. Drink now until 2022+. NB: might be a bit of bottle shock on this as only arrived from California 2 weeks ago and not showing as well as the 75cl. — 10 years ago

1990 vintage. From Double Magnum. At Harry's Bar for Jay K's birthday. Immediately on opening, green and vegetal, woody. But blew off fairly quickly with red plum and cedar notes to the fore. On the palate, medium acidity and integrated medium minus tannins. Medium concentration. Finish is medium plus. Let's come back to this in an hour and reassess. An hour on: more earth, twig, forest floor and slight medicinal notes. The wine is starting to becoming tart - not sure decanting was a good idea! Drink up soon - not for keeping. — 11 years ago

1997 vintage. Sori San Lorenzo. At Harry's Bar for Soprano's Dinner. Deep ruby hue. Quite reticent at first. Almond paste and deep blackberry fruit. Integrated ripe tannins. Tar and iris flowers. On the palate, high acidity, medium body, medium Alcohol and long finish. Excellent although still very youthful. drink now until 2036. — 10 years ago
2004 vintage. At Harry's Bar with Jay. Medium lemon hue. Toasty with rounded citrus fruits, still very youthful and a touch closed in my glass. On the palate, medium plus acidity, refined bubbles - small and crisp. There's a slight creamy coffee note, some punch and concentration and great length. Quite approachable. Very enjoyable. Able to drink now - acidity profile makes this a Salon that I don't think will age as well as the 2002. — 10 years ago
Yes. Big time. Exactly what regions like this should be producing (rather than weird and unpleasant wines) — 11 years ago
2008 vintage from Double-Magnum at Harry's Bar for Jay K birthday. Pale lemon hue. Medium plus concentration of ripe lemon, lemon rind, wet stone, white peach, kernel nut. On the palate, oak is quite dominant - not integrated yet. Vanilla and coconut. Some clove. Rich. Medium acidity - a little fat. Medium plus concentration. Medium finish. A little sickly to me. Not sure I can have more than 2 glasses. — 11 years ago
a v fresh expression of this grape from newish vines in Oregon. I really enjoy this, but that's bc it's reminding me of Scholium's very-briefly-produced St Harry's Chapel Grenache--strawberries and lots of lift. — 10 years ago
1997 vintage. In Imperial. At Harry's Bar for Soprano's dinner. Very fresh and nubile. Mint, tar, floral, liquorice - black cherry profile. Distressed leather. Earth. Very complex. On the palate, medium plus acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, full concentration and long lingering finish. Velvet glove and powerful iron fist finish. Excellent. Serious. Drink now until 2030. — 10 years ago

2005 vintage. Selection de Grains Nobles Pinot Gris. At Harry's Bar for Jay's birthday. Deep amber hue. Exceptional nose - apricot, peach, pinapple, butterscotch, honey and honey suckle, some botanical notes. On the palate, full bodied, treacle texture, oily, huge acidity creates a cutting edge through the honeyed notes. This is superb despite its tender age. Full concentration. Very long. Caramelised pineapple on the finish. Delicious. Love it. — 11 years ago
