1985 Gaja Costa Russi Barbaresco. Dinner at Ner w D&M H. Fully mature, ready to drink, still tons of fruit. Nice balance between fruit and minerality; lots of terroir and soil. Classic Barbaresco. Still full bodied. Loved it. Note: should have decanted longer- we only decanted right before serving. — 8 years ago

1998 Penfolds Grange. Drank at dinner w D&M H at B Merc. This wine was still enormous and complexity was amazing. Dark fruit, gamey meat, earthiness, and coffee. Great wine. — 9 years ago

This is my favorite wine right now. Fruity nose dominated by black currant and boysenberry. Moderately dry and smooth with a touch of fuzzy tannins (that add a little structure) and gentle oak.
