This is a new sample from Max Geitlinger. It’s a white blend of grapes. Not sure what. Likely Muller-Thurgau and Gutedel. 1,000 bottles made. Sick nose. Clean depth and also some intense minerality and lanolin. Spiced apple. So clean and really jumps out of the glass but has serious depth. Palate is a joy. Full of grapefruit and some apricot with great freshness. Good sap and purity. Long. Balanced. This is a really great knock back summer white. Great concentration. This is like the platonic ideal of a quaffer. — 6 years ago

Apple and yellow peach nose. Much improved over last time with age. Very special indeed. In the glass orange rind, quince, apricot pits it's just unique different and special. Florian one of the winemakers was right this needed time. It's unreal that Gutedel or Auxerrois can have that much taste 🍷🍷🍷The best white from E&M. — 9 years ago

A very stylish Gemischtersatz made with native yeasts and flavors of fennel and anise seed and lots of vegetal Gruner Veltliner snap. — 10 years ago
A brilliant Gutedel. Nose is smoke, mineral, leather and spice. Peach and melon. After air Huge spice and almost potpourri. So pure. So clean. Wonderfully expressive. Palate is super fresh and clean. Dazzling freshness and so so so drinkable. Wow. Amazing cut and clarity. Great fruit which is unusual for Gutedel. Peaches and apricots and a hint of bitter green fruits. So so well made. A masterpiece dare I say. Terrific acidity and so pure. Sappy. This is so great. — 6 years ago

This needed to warm up from its stay in the fridge, and also needed air. Then the nose shows intense, almost pungent, minerality, and something that reminded me of day-old roast chicken pulled out of the fridge. Let’s call it a “poultry note.” Very lean and minerally in the mouth. No fruit. Short finish. Not my cup of tea. I haven’t had a Chasselas (Gutedel) in decades, and it’s really not my cup of tea, so I can’t rate this.
UPDATE: Night 2. Significantly friendlier and less quirky. Getting a little bruised pear along with much more settled minerality in the nose. A note of light honey. Softer and lengthier in mouth. Very bright and pure. Now that it’s making sense to me, I’m go giving it a numerical rating. — 7 years ago
