Wow! Wanted to get to know Beaujolais, so found this on menu at Rye in Louisville. Knew they were generally best young, so was on guard, but what a nice wine! Sweet flowers and very slight spiciness on the nose. Not "sweet" on the tongue, just nice juicy red berries/cherries come to mind. So easy to enjoy and paired well with the both the cheese board and beef. Tannins were subdued, finish was clean...should have got a bottle! Nice choice for the wine list, Rye! — 10 years ago

Dark ruby in color. The nose is somewhat closed now but subtle notes of dried berries and tea are apparent with time. Restrained in style compared with many of its California peers, the ripe dark fruit is balanced by nice freshness and structure from 25% whole cluster fermentation. With only 10% new oak, the Sanford & Benedict fruit is really allowed to shine. Would be nice to see how it evolves with more time in the bottle. — 9 years ago

Intense scents of red cherries and earth. Caught off guard by the very solid level of acidity which gives a nice boost to the plums, berries, spice and mineral flavors. Tannins are restraining the wine from showing its best but I expect them to resolve in 3-5 years . First time with this producer and I would like to try their other wines. — 10 years ago

This wine caught me off guard; it's the best showing I've seen yet from Municipal. Cool climate pepper notes, and perfectly balanced. I love this site. It’s so distinct and in the right hands makes 1er quality wine that’s like a mini Perrieres as it has the same super rocky poor soil. Meyer lemon, butter, grilled nuts, mineral, tree bark, so earthy and mineral. Palate is so elegant and just beautiful. Wow. Hauntingly elegant. So mineral with some buttery fruit but man this is wow. Verily I say, my head nearly exploded when I tasted this! Inky deep, meaty, peppery, stiff backbone like a Buckingham Palace guard, and big in all the ways that light up my palate like a First Encounter of the wine kind. Mondeuse is rarer in the US than a UFO ... and uncommon outside of the French region of Savoie. $42 at the winery. Gotta rig up a tractor beam and get me some! — 10 years ago
